3D-printed fake “meat” and “fish” products are quietly flooding the U.S. food supply and arriving in American grocery stores without clear labeling.
The “foods” are sold in packaging that markets them as “premium plant-based meat” without disclosing the printing technology used to manufacture them.
Israeli food-technology company Steakholder Foods is launching its PERFECTA brand across the Northeastern United States, bringing engineered imitations of steak, chicken, and seafood to retail shelves.
The hyperprocessed products are “built” in Israel before being shipped to American stores in packaging that imitates real meat and fish. - Advertisement -
The rollout raises a straightforward transparency question: will shoppers understand how these products are manufactured when the packaging does not identify them as 3D-printed?

I hope to never be desperate enough to ever even try such an abomination.
plant-based meat
++++
Like factory-based meat?
Food NOT,
just crap, IMHO
Garbage posing as food.
“I hope to never be desperate enough to ever even try such an abomination.”
And pray that you’ll be able to identify fake steak so that you wouldn’t buy it unknowingly. It sounds like that’s the big deal of the article, i.e., they’re sneaking it into our food supply.
I’m extremely pro-Israel, but they need to stop doing this. Bill Gates, too.
You too can ingest more chemicals than love canal.
Yuck. This is a disgusting thought. The importation of these types of products should be more clearly labeled or banned altogether. I want to know exactly what is in the package before putting it in my system. Of course, the manufacturers and importers will fight tooth and nail to keep from doing that.
Considering it’s from Israel, I have to ask if it is kosher.
Yeah, I was going to say that through simply avoiding “plant based meat,” whatever that is, it seems you can avoid the 3d printed plant based meat, whatever that is.
I’m going to start raising my own cattle for beef. It’s the only way to know what I’m eating.
Dear God. Fake meat, makes me want to puke just thinking about it. Off to some other post before I barf.
Venison...it’s what’s for dinner!
Hate to say it, but if it tastes good enough, it’s very likely to be served to you in ‘mom and pop’ restaurants, places that don’t have to disclose ‘food’ ingredients.
Unfortunately, our state overlords only allow harvesting of venison during certain periods of the year and prescribe the allowable means of harvest. Then they go on to limit the harvest, which makes venison unavailable throughout most of the year if you eat every day and more than once per day.
I can raise and slaughter cattle as I need to.
Same here, if it’s fake meat, we will not buy it.
A couple years ago we stopped at Wendy’s for a burger. Hadn’t been there in a long time. Whatever they had in the sandwich they called meat wasn’t. The texture, appearance and flavor did not match that of real hamburger. Never again will be Wendy’s.
It isn’t. It’s called, “Goy Slop.”
We had 18 deer in our back yard/meadow recently.
Growing up, we had venison all the time because Dad hunted. And I had moose and reindeer for 20 years in Alaska. All we need is a YouTube on how to process game from beginning to end - LOL! (Hubby would starve before he’d eat game meat, anyhow.)
I’ve heard that it’s being served in some restaurants as actual meat. Not sure if the menu specifies “plant based”, but I’d be pissed if I were to be served that and wasn’t warned ahead of time.
“In the year 2525”
Things are moving fast.
People get in their cars that have the cameras that monitor their faces. With the OnStar system that sends their driving data to their insurance company.
Then drive and buy the fake printed meat.
Strange times
I’ve noticed the retail space for plant based meat is getting smaller.
