The Democratic candidate running against Republican Rep. Mike Lawler shockingly threw Gov. Kathy Hochul under the bus — telling a crowd she agreed with her opponent that the governor “has got to go.”
Cait Conley delivered the jaw-dropping burn this week, becoming the second Democratic congressional candidate to publicly distance themselves from Hochul ahead of next month’s midterms.
The stunning moment came after Lawler, the incumbent congressman repping New York’s 17th House District, railed againstt New York’s business climate — citing the highest in the nation taxes, congestion pricing and red rape — during a Putnam County VFW forum Tuesday night.
“We need a new governor. Kathy Hochul has to go,” he said in closing, as the conservative-leaning crowd cheered him on, video obtained by The Post shows.
“I have to tell you: I’m in absolute agreement with my opponent,” Conley, who was sitting next to Lawler at the dais, surprisingly said immediately after as she stood to address the group.
“Absolute agreement.”
Lawler and other Republicans on the dais started clapping, and one yelled, “Blakeman!” referring to Hochul’s GOP opponent in the November 3 election.
Lawler even looked at Conley and smiled, telling her, “I set you up on that one.”
Conley did not defend fellow Democrat Hochul, the favored incumbent seeking re-election to a second, four-year term against Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive.

It must be bad...
Dem running for Elise Stefanik’s seat won’t say if he would vote for Hochul in embarrassing election snub
But New York is a blue state, and it’s a blue wave, and the polls, and...
Denier!!!!!!!!!!
They’ll fake being like us in conservative districts so we vote for them and then they will vote 100% liberal when they get elected. Taqiyyah is a democrat value too.
“..and red rape..”
You would think that someone would proofread their work as not to look like a fool.
citing the highest in the nation taxes, congestion pricing and red rape —
.........
Actually it is factual.
There are no cracks. Conley is running as a professed moderate in a purple district. This statement is meant to garner support from the moderates.
She is up two points over the incumbent Lawler. In the Polymarket, Conley is ahead by 14 points.
“I have to tell you: I’m in absolute agreement with my opponent,” Conley, who was sitting next to Lawler at the dais, surprisingly said immediately after as she stood to address the group.
LOL- she’s running as a moderate???
I am in NY CD17 and in the thick of this race...she does not live in NY, has campaigned for higher taxes in the past and wants to abolish ICE....Lawler was down in the polls to mondaire jones last election as well...
Lawler’s ads have been killer....
I hope Lawler wins. I used to live in Northern Westchester and my folks were IBMers.
Not really. They say a lot of things during election season then revert to toeing the line. Even Fetterman has only partially strayed from toeing the line.
that’s where i am- northern Westchester...
Lots of conley signs but also plenty of Lawler signs around here- not that it means anything int he end...
Albany can’t print money, but it does know this.
So why the freak out...
Will Deep State lose control of Congress next month...
Will that new Congress be unwilling to write Albany and NYC blank checks...
Betcha Deep State thinks so.
