👋 Hello, Ready for a mental workout? 🧠 A Cryptogram is a classic quotation puzzle frequently featured in daily publications. I source the best and most challenging ones to help keep our minds sharp and boost cognitive health!

🧩 How the Cryptogram Works

In a Cryptogram, a single letter always stands for another letter.

(Example: AXYDLBAAXR might translate to LONGFELLOW. This is just an example and does not apply to today’s puzzle.)

If this is your first time, don’t be intimidated—the game is very addictive, and you will quickly master the technique! If you find yourself stumped, simply take a break and return to it later. ☕

💡 Post a Clever Clue

Feel free to post a fun or clever clue—the more tangential to the quotation the better! Just remember that your clue must not contain the actual words of the solved quote. Good luck, and enjoy the challenge! 🍀

He plays the glass harmonica
And talks of wind and kites
The habits of the court of France
And other strange delights
Of course I've heard it all before
On other wintry nights
And yet there is no better wine or conversation

It's a wise and timely message for our perilous times here in America and across the world.

There are six moderate to long-length words in the text that assist in narrowing the choices down.  My semi-automated solution is good for sniffing out the probable answer to words with at least one repetitive character.

But if the length of the word is 6 or shorter letters, the number of possible words is daunting.

Hey scrabblehack... Great name for a cryptographer!

My system contains about 24,000 unique words found in my corpus of Fortune magazine stories I put together 20 years ago.

For the "DZWW" pattern, my tool finds about 80 words that the Fortune collection used at least once in the corpus.  And, of course, I counted the frequency of times each word is used in that Fortune corpus.  That knowledge is what really saves time solving puzzles.

Above and beyond that, I added a generic corpus listing an insane number of valid English words that have zero hits in Fortune.  So add on another 100 possible (but highly improbable) words.  So Fortune editors did not allow the words "fizz, fuzz, cuss, gaff, gull, null, sass, putt, and watt" to appear in print.

Bottom line, the correct DZWW word in today's cryptograms comes up top-of-list, six times more often used than the next most likely word.

So there you go, my FRiend.
