As questions remain as to what happens next for Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike after a botched execution attempt last week, her accomplice and former boyfriend has at least another five years before his next parole hearing in the 1995 torture and murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville.
Tadaryl Shipp, 49, was 17 years old when he, Pike and another person tortured and killed Slemmer, their classmate from a vocational school, in a crime with "satanic elements" that still haunts investigators 31 years later.
Prosecutors accused Shipp of holding Slemmer down when she tried to escape her attackers and of carving pentagrams into her chest and face.
"It was a grotesque crime scene," former Knoxville Police Chief Phil Keith told Fox News Digital last week. "It was one of the worst crime scenes I'd witnessed. and I was with the police department almost 34 years."
Shipp showed no remorse after his arrest and even fell asleep during his interrogation, Keith told Fox News Digital.
Due to his age at the time, Shipp was not eligible for the death penalty after his conviction, Keith said. He was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder and 25 years for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and is currently incarcerated at Tennessee's Northwest Correctional Complex.
According to court documents, Shipp had explored satanism as a child and investigators found "satanic paraphernalia" in his dorm room. He and Pike were said to be wearing pentagram pendants at the time of their arrests.

And this all leads to some supernatural explanation as to why the attempted execution was unsuccessful. But why the heroic measures to PRESERVE the life of this condemned criminal after the failed injection?
If it were a fetus born alive after a botched abortion, it would have simply been left on the table to die.
Peak Stupid of Western Civilization explains why she’s still alive.
Gads, I’m glad I won’t be around for the denouement.
What should we do?
A convicted killer gets hundreds of thousands of dollars in free health care.
It’s not supernatural.
A rope could have ended this decades ago. I can get one at the local hardware store for twenty bucks. I can even tie the knot.
Canada, I understand, has ways of ending life and they will even pay for it. Gleefully.
Ms Pike has been convicted of atrocious murder. Why is she still sucking oxygen for decades?
“If it were a fetus born alive after a botched abortion, it would have simply been left on the table to die.”

Well said alloysteel. Amen and Thank You !
“He or she, an aborted baby, would have been left to die.”
Other than that, EXCELLENT post…
“If it were a fetus born alive after a botched abortion, it would have simply been left on the table to die.”
Quite true. But the leftists are in charge of this, which includes the MSM. The leftists value criminal life, for they are voters.
The death sentence on Pike is valid. She just did not simply murder someone, she tortured another girl to death and kept skull parts as a trophy. She’s seriously sick in the head and should be shot/hung/electrocuted; or as you implied, left on that table to die.
Looks like he went muztard in prison. Not much different than devil worship.
I'd guess her first name caught a lot of connected wymen's attention that provided them with a basis for the only ingredient their missing, a metaphysical segment they can fit into the dream they're still working on in their underground coven.
Give them time they'll put something together. It doesn't have to make sense to everybody.
What should happen? Well, even a DEI team ought to be able to handle a pillow.
From his little chapeau, I see that he’s traded one form of satanism for another.
