I live in Denton but still root for the Buccaneers, since central FL is where I lived for 40 years. Tonight they play the Cowboys. Because I believe love is best shown when the other is at their worst, I will root for the Buccaneers. However, being a realist, I expect the Cowboys to win, since it was the cowboys who overcame the not-so-indigenous people of what eventually became known as Texas (John Wayne told me so).
I’ve lived in DFW for over 30 years, but still root for the Lions.
Restore Pangea!
That weekend is when the wheelie bois run roughshod through south Florida. Last year they swarmed the local beach then as a rolling and looting mob of over a thousand “teens”, they ransacked businesses in a ten block stretch, like a swarm of feral locusts. One restaurant pulled tables & chairs inside and locked the doors to protect customers that were eating. Gunshots are the last thing one wants to hear when at the beach with family over a holiday weekend.
Thank you for the reminder to stay home next weekend.
Yeah, lets get it together.

Gotta go with Rush Limbaugh’s Environmentalist Whacko pick...
Who were Cowboys? White men who destroyed the land and killed peaceful animals. Who are Buccaneers? Pirates who only steal from the rich exploiters.
My thoughts exactly!
The indigenous people are all down at the tip of South America.
I think a true land acknowledgement would be illuminating - we now stand on land taken from the X people who took it from the Y people, who took it from the Z people…
Probably have to go through the whole alphabet to get an accounting of the land Dallas sits on.
I prefer Indignant People’s Day.
I'd like to see the Cowboys do well, for the sake of my family. I grew up in the Bay Area, big fan of the Raiders and local teams. I still get nauseous whenever I see a clip of the Immaculate Reception.
Been in Texas 50 years, 15 in El Paso and 35 in Dallas, except for a 4 year interlude in Germany. I still consider Traben-Trarbach my second home, I loved my time in Germany.
The only team I live and die with are the Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team. I graduated from GU back in '76, long before they caught lightning 25+ years ago. Got to know the players well, as I lived in the same dorm with them. Been to many away games over the past 25 years, looking forward to seeing them in San Marcos in February.
And cave men and women
The Mexicans? Or the ones who were driven out by the Mexicans?
Pretty soon the days the government works will be fewer than the holidays.
Pretty soon the days the government works will be fewer than the holidays.
That’s a good thing.
That’s one of the great things about Texas: the state legislature only meets every other year.
You forgot the part where they killed and ate them.
They did misspell COLUMBUS day
I pitched a small fit at my bank telling them how insulted I was that they did not recognize my Italian contributions to our country. And that I also have feather Indian roots.
All the signage changed
Now both are acknowledged.
Try it.
If you use cash on Monday. make sure you only pay with 20s.
“”Dang, they’re shutting down the whole city.””
.
I wonder if anyone will notice.
.
It’s COLUMBUS DAY!
Anyone who says anything different is an enemy of America, Mexico, and of Western civilization!
.......Many Mexicans observe October 12 as Columbus Day, or Day of the Race (Día de la Raza) in remembrance of when Christopher Columbus came to the Americas......
