This seems to be the current state of FR's home page.
The link to "https://freerepublic.com/donate/" yields (for me, at least) the following:
404 Not Found nginx/1.18.0 (Ubuntu)
|
Click here: to donate by Credit Card Or here: to donate by PayPal Or by mail to: Free Republic, LLC - PO Box 9771 - Fresno, CA 93794 Thank you very much and God bless you. |
The link title, and it's target, should be fixed.
First United Payments specializes in supporting organizations that have been debanked.

It’s a shame FR doesn’t take advantage of it.
You can use a credit card on paypal. You don’t have to have an account. Scroll down to ‘donate with debit or credit card’:
https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=P5K5QZGVTL4PW
And the FR boilerplate that appears right after each original post always contains the long inoperative credit card link:
Click here: to donate by Credit Card
I know that, and have done it. But new visitors might not know that direct credit card donations don’t work.
Then they might think “Why donate to an Website that is obviously broken. Too bad, it looked interesting.”
‘New Visitors’ tend to hang around a while before donating; and after a while, they figure things out - unless you believe they’re all stupid.
You seem to just want to criticize, without understanding the problems that have been arising lately which the management has had to address.
That message comes up occasionally. I suspect that the message isn’t donation based. It may however indirectly be ‘ISP speak’ for send money.
Zelle works fine and has no cost to sender or receiver.
really? if you don’t mind me asking brother FReeper, how do they make their money off you. i assume you’ve got to give them all your info.
Broken for days. I cannot even post an article. “”Don’t touch that dial.” Be back after a short delay” it now says. And if FR wants donations, them like a a family, it should list where donations go. A broken secretive site does not encourage them.
Financial institutions cover the costs. That means higher fees, interest rates on loans, and lower CD rates.
The website has gotten beyond ridiculously slow as well. It’s not my end because links work fine. Posting a comment takes forever as does opening a thread.

Zelle is a service that many banks and financial institutions offer to their own customers. Banks offer it as a “FREE” benefit presumable to remain competitive, help keep their existing customers and attract new customers.
