A South Carolina restaurant is facing backlash after the owner falsely accused a Black couple of refusing to pay for their meal.
In a now-viral video, Christopher Phillip Wallman Jr., owner of The Grill, a restaurant in Manning, South Carolina, announced his false accusation to all of his customers in an apparent attempt to embarrass the couple.
“I want everybody to hear this now. This lovely couple has ordered $137 of food that they’re refusing to pay," Wallman said.
The couple shut down the allegation, saying they were only asking that the fried pork chops they sent back to the kitchen be removed from their tab. The customers said the pork chops were "fried hard," so they decided to order another item off the menu.

It’s a pork chop. It has to be overcooked.
“You can’t make me pay for something I don’t like.”
Is that how it works?
The customer is always right no matter what color their skin is.
“Is that how it works?”
It does according to them.
The cheat sends it back after earing 90% of it. It is possible to cook a pork chop so that it is done and not dried out and hard.
Was this after they ate the pork chops?
It sounds like this all happened when it was time to pay and that’s not when you send food back to the kitchen.
Item sent back to the kitchen as unacceptable, not eaten, replacement item ordered, the rejected item should be removed from the bill.
“...so they decided to order another item off the menu.”
Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. If you don’t like it, tell them and maybe they will bring you a new one. I generally eat it and don’t go back.
The story says they sent it back and ordered something else off the menu.
It’s a game they play. I live in Memphis. It’s gotten so bad that restaurants run your card before being seated. At first I was angry about it. But then I realized how much nicer and quieter the patrons around me were. I noticed two out of three settings of black folks would refuse to hand over a card to run first, would just turn around and walk out. Those are exactly the ones you don’t want in your establishment. Behavior has consequences.
Overcooked? No, just cooked correctly. One needs only to slice open a PIECE of that pork chop. If there is still PINK in that cut...time to cook it a bit more.
It's not rocket science.
I DO love pork chops. YUM!
And we know it was a false accusation because?
And we know it was “racism” because?
And we know black people are famous for doing this because ... well yeah see it all the time.
Lol I see them make an ugly face and the ones with them day “”I know you’re not paying for that! “
Sounds like a good system ... for that problem.
Nothing wrong with the restaurant checking credit cards.
I pay CASH for everything. Haven't used my card for YEARS.
If I order online, I ask them of I can write a check. If they say NO I cross them off my list. They get to know me very quickly; that is, I ALWAYS pay my bills.
It’s a little different for pork chops. Even if the internal temp is OK, people will send it back for fear of Immediate Pig Death. The only way to order pork in a restaurant is stuffed.
Generally, its better for any establishment if the customer pays cash. But not such much if the customers routinely refuse to pay.
It depends how it went down. If they indeed refused to pay the whole bill, they may have changed their story after the filming started.
I couldn’t eat it all, so I don’t have to pay.
You ordered it and it met expected standards, you pay for it.
