Authorities are searching for a jet after it lost contact with air traffic control early Saturday morning.

It is being reported that the aircraft in question is a medical transport plane.

According to the United States Coast Guard, the FAA notified them that they lost contact with the Gulfstream “early Saturday morning.”

There were six passengers onboard, USCG confirmed at 3:15 a.m. Saturday.

The Coast Guard’s Northeast District stated about 20 minutes later that the Gulfstream G100, with the tail number #C-GRJP, was flying from Bermuda International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport when it disappeared off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The Nantucket coast is the primary search area, USCG Northeast stated. Weather radar data from the National Weather Service shows an intense storm off the coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts — directly in the plane’s projected flight path.

Are Canadian Gulfstreams one of the banned Canadian imports?

Seriously, it's an air ambulance so hoping/praying it's just an FAA glitch and they are safely on the ground somewhere.

Why would a plane fly directly into an intense storm?

Gulfstream is a US company. New aircraft manufactured in Canada wouldn't be banned, but subject to tariffs for US buyers..

Aircraft are designed to withstand high winds.

On October 25, 1999, professional golfer **Payne Stewart** and five others were aboard a Learjet flying from Orlando to Dallas when the aircraft lost cabin pressurization and the occupants became incapacitated from hypoxia. The aircraft continued flying on autopilot for several hours while military fighter jets followed it, unable to make contact with anyone aboard. After the Learjet ran out of fuel, it crashed near Aberdeen, South Dakota, killing everyone aboard.

Emergency medical and rescue aircraft have a relatively higher accident rate than they would otherwise because of their mission. It’s not just that the pilots “want to get home” (Homeitus), but they will take more chances with bad weather because the patient needs to get there soon.

Not saying that is what happened this time.

This would be the second time in a week that a medical helicopter crashed. First one was here in Catalina Island, 3 dead, 2 survived

That's the first question: Was it the pilot or the plane that flew into the storm? Was the pilot incapacitated? Was the plane running on autopilot?

I suspect this is simply part of the larger regression in commercial aviation to the skill sets and standards of decades ago in the Western world and current to the Turd World.

High winds is one thing, but sheer in a thundercloud can rip off a control surface, or suck one in and spit it our either much higher or lower.

Sounds like cabin decompression and crew became incapacitated and the plane flew on auto pilot

400+ kts is way fast at 11000ft
