A less than decent showing would leave out those associated with Trump from consideration. Trump FATIGUE comes in-both sides. Moving ahead without changing direction would point to DeSantis, an 'outsider'. It would lower the drama level after Trump broke the eggs to make the omelette while still pushing conservatism.

Rubio said he won’t run if Vance runs. I’d like DeSantis too, but if it’s not Vance it could very well be Rubio.

The drama element. Think Humphrey being tied to LBJ and Viet Nam. Think Nixon and Watergate. Voters were willing to turn away from the status quo. Could things have been different had Reagan beat Ford in ‘76? Once again it wasn’t Reagan it was the drama.

“Vance has said he will wait until after the midterms before deciding whether to run in 2028.”

Doesn’t seem like the position a strong leader would take.

If the Republicans take a beating in the midterms, the Democrats will go into impeachment mode from Day 1 for Trump and most of his cabinet, all the talk about affordability will go out the window.

If Democrats adopt a scorched earth agenda against Trump, IMO people like Vance will get some sympathy and look more than reasonable compared to Democrats especially if they nominate someone like AOC or a similar radical.

Rubio could stay as SOS. Big changes in Latin America, especially if Brazil changes it’s leader on Sunday.

>If Democrats adopt a scorched earth agenda against Trump, IMO people like Vance will get some sympathy and look more than reasonable compared to Democrats<
Reasonable in on the ballot now.

His answer makes absolutely no sense. I gotta talk to my wife...You're VP for cripes sakes.

I think what we’re seeing is that he is not willing to officially declare his candidacy,,at this point in time.

As long as i’ve been following politics, potential candidates in both parties never officially announced their candidacies until after the midterm elections.

“A less than decent showing would leave out those associated with Trump from consideration.”

Which is exactly why the RINO wing is trying its hardest to sabotage these mid-terms.

No thanks, I will or support a RINO candidate ever again. The Managed Decline wing can stick it.

I’d Dems win control of Congress, he’ll be President and run as the incumbent.

Given your About page states you are a "total libertarian," one wonders why this NewsMax article, authored by the quasi-anonymous "Newsmax Wires," talking about politics in 2028 is relevant to the upcoming midterm elections, other than to discourage conservatives -- rather than libertarians or Lefties -- from voting.

Free Republic, ostensibly to "to champion causes which further conservatism in America," is become home to many who espouse other than conservative stances.

*********

Running with a poor showing shouldn't bar
him. The economy needs the $s flowing.

“I’d Dems win control of Congress, he’ll be President and run as the incumbent.”

Takes 60 votes in the Senate to remove a president. That could happen, but I seriously doubt it. What will happen is the DSA will go on a non stop impeachment party and totally hamstring Trump for 2 years. Then they’ll claim Republicans are useless, didn’t do anything, and are totally responsible for the mess the nation will be in at the end of those 2 years. The media will pitch in, and the stupid American public will elect their first DSA president in 28.

That’s what I see. I hope I’m wrong.

We already did. While the party label wasn't so obvious, Obama was that individual, Biden his "prophet," and we are recovering.

The key for me in all this is "The media will pitch in," as they have been for decades now.

Very interesting article. Thanks for posting.

Personally, I would rather have Pete Hegseth as President
IMO, he has demonstrated decisive leadership and much more trustworthy.

We are BLESSED to have such a strong bench for a change.

*Shuddering and flashing back to the McCain and Romney years! Ugh!*

And the Socialist Democrats have Bupkis!

A poor midterm showing is going to leave anyone in this administration scrambling to avoid persecution and destruction by the left. That should provide all the incentive to get this right.
