President Donald Trump again insulted Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton, calling him “a pain in the a**” before wondering aloud, “Is he here, by the way?”
The president has used similar lines countless times before, including at his Republican midterm convention in Dallas, where he declared, “He may not dress right. He may not talk exactly perfectly, and he may not be the best-looking guy I’ve ever seen, but you know what he is? He’s the greatest attorney general in America, and he deserves to be your next senator.”
His latest remarks came as he returned to Denton, Texas, on Thursday to continue rallying support for Paxton, who is running against Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico.
“He’s been a friend of mine for a long time, one of the most loyal people,” Trump told the crowd. “When I was being hit by the radical left… Ken Paxton was at my side, more than anybody, and I have to always remember that because he can be a pain in the a** sometimes — I’ll be honest.”
“Is he here, by the way?” the president questioned. “Oh, there he is. Good. I didn’t even know if he was here! I don’t care. I would say the same thing whether — the guy is the greatest attorney general in the United States of America.”
Some of the frustration Trump was referring to may stem from unearthed audio in which Paxton privately acknowledged that the president’s recent Dallas gathering appeared to hurt his campaign.
“So to be honest with you, the numbers — when we did that convention — it dropped our numbers,” Paxton said in a recording obtained by The New York Times. “Everybody’s numbers dropped. Right now, yeah, not good.”
CNN data analyst Harry Enten noted Thursday that Paxton’s net favorability stood at minus-16 points, which he said made Paxton the least popular Texas Republican Senate nominee this century.

When it was posted that President Trump regularly rags Paxton on his appearance, the defense is that anyone who finds it weird is just lacking a sense of humor.
Paxton is in a race he should win. It'd be nice to have the President help him cross the finish line. The unnecessary digs aren't helpful.
If we lose this race and it costs us the Senate, just remember Cornyn would have easily won.
I think you are 100% correct, Paxton may have some baggage, but Talarico is beyond redemption!
Trump would have ragged Cornyn harder.
How is some ragging on Paxton going to cause Paxton to lose but massive ragging on Cornyn will cause Cornyn to win?
You are practicing bad mathematics.
Cornyn could have won and obstructed like any Democrat. No thanks.

It’s obviously the way a person talks jokingly about their good friend.
Are you not human?
Is there video of this situation?
I have some sort of a gut feeling that the crowd might potentially have been laughing through some of this.
What was Ken Paxton’s facial expressions?
Mediaite being Mediaite.
But wait!
Isn’t republican obstructionism superior to democrat obstructionism?
Sarcasm aside. We do not need Cornyn being a seat warmer for the left blocking conservatives from clinching that seat. Cornin would make an excellent senator from the state of Illinois, and I would be highly supportive of Cornyn in a blue state.
Cicero spoke of Cornholio:
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.”
― Marcus Tullius Cicero
I am glad to be rid of that lying, anti-gun POS who was a true blue conservative only one year out of six, the year before an election.
Does Trump root for the RATS to win the Congress? Maybe he enjoys the spotlight like getting impeached. Tonight he’s at a rally in OK, one of the most MAGA states in the nation, where pubbies are a shoo in. One would think he’d be spending time in the battleground. Why criticize Paxton’ appearance? Very juvenile.
cornyn would have approved Trump judge nominees.
If Democrats take control, I dont expect them to approve even a SINGLE judge for the next two years.
Did he call him ugly again?
And then RINO along for another 6 years? No thanks!!!
Sound like locker room banter to me. This is how guys talk to each other who are pals. Nothing to see here.
This is the left media screwing around. Trump praised Paxton.
Read TRUMPS quote. The headline is pure fake news as always. Why even bother with these people.
If we lose this race and it costs us the Senate, just remember Cornyn would have easily won.
LOLOL!
Nope. But, thanks for the laugh.
EVERYONE in Texas is sick of that RINO dirtbag.
