The Alpine Fire District rescued a man whose side-by-side — and prosthetic leg — were trapped in the thick mud of Palisades Reservoir on Monday.

Alpine Fire Chief Mike Vogt said they received a direct call from a Utah man who had been camping in the area and got stuck while riding his side-by-side.

ATV with 2 seats next to each other. Most are used as utility vehicles.

Man reunited with his IHOP prosthetic leg...

Sounds kind of racist or something. Insensitive, for sure. Why not just a man rescued who uses a prosthetic leg and won’t need to hop on one leg to get around?

Great story.

Screw the ATV, I'm glad they recovered the prosthetic.

I have a close friend and a brother in law who lost their leg above the knee. Each of their prosthetics cost tens of thousands of dollars, depending on how technical they are.

I have a prosthetic leg...

People have asked how I lost a leg???

I tell them I had a doctor cut it off so I could park close to the door wherever I went....(GRIN)

SUTs, (side by sides) can cost from $10,000 up to 50,000.

Add on some accessories and a lot more.

The guy tried arguing with the rescue staff, but he didn’t have a leg to stand on. The rescue people asked him how he got stuck, but he was stumped.
