A Maine Wire reporter was involved in a potentially dangerous confrontation with a driver Thursday morning while reporting outside a Bangor methadone clinic.
Reporter Joe Sokol was conducting reporting from public property near Bangor Comprehensive Treatment Center, also known as Discovery House BR Inc., at 689 Odlin Road when a driver confronted him and attempted to interfere with his work.
Maine Wire video clearly captures the event.

Now, trying to murder someone with a vehicle is immoral and illegal, but what was the "reporter" expecting from patients at a methadone clinic?
The reporter’s name means “falcon” or “hawk,” so he felt he had a duty to match the place like a hawk.
So what are you saying? It sounds like you are rationalizing the attempt to run this individual over because the driver didn’t like the reporter being a reporter. There are reports of fraud everywhere in the healthcare industry, maybe the reporter was looking into the possibility of fraud at this clinic. Should he be run over by a car for that?
Daily Caller has picked up the story...
Has the driver been criminally charged as yet?
Likely related, from today...

Cheese whiz. Sorry, wrong thread!

Govt Agencies Facing the Most Actual Fraud
The US “Government Accountability Office (GAO)” maintains a “High-Risk List”. The government loses between $233 billion and $521 billion annually to fraud, heavily concentrated within the major spending programs of these cor e departments:
• Dept of Health and Human Services (HHS): Specifically through Medicare and Medicaid, which suffer tens of billions in improper payments and healthcare fraud annually.
• Department of Labor (DOL): Vulnerable to massive identity theft and fraudulent payouts within the Unemployment Insurance system.
• Department of the Treasury (IRS): Targets of extensive Tax Refund Fraud, identity theft schemes, and the multi-billion dollar “Tax Gap”.
• Small Business Administration (SBA): Exploited heavily in the Covid-era. SBA emergency pandemic loan programs (PPP and EIDL) were hit for billions in fraud.
• Department of Defense (DOD): Plagued by Procurement and Contracting Fraud, including bid-rigging and inflated overhead costs on multi-billion dollar weapon systems.
• Department of Homeland Security (FEMA): Recently designated as a primary high-risk area due to highly fragmented and fraud-vulnerable Federal Disaster Assistance distribution.
Sure, by filming drug addicts out front.
If he filmed outside a courthouse, an abortion clinic, or a doctor's office, he'd be removed - but film drug addicts seeking treatment at a methadone clinic, he expected sunshine and roses.
I followed the link. It’s simple. You should not run someone over.
Aside from that, a lady tells the reporter to get off private property. I’m skeptical of her claim. The building was on the other side of the street.
Let’s start with a presumption of innocence. Assume that the methadone clinic is not fraudulent. What is the harm from reporting? Is it an invasion of privacy? I’m not sure it is. If you are addicted to some heroin product, fess-up and pursue methadone re-hab.
If everything is on the up and up, this is a wonderful opportunity to advertise the good work of the clinic.
“The Maine Wire said the facility has received roughly $25 million in taxpayer funding.”
Assuming that is true, public scrutiny is to be expected.
