NASHVILLE, TENN. (WSMV/WVLT/Gray News) - The doctor who oversaw Christa Gail Pike’s lethal injection was also involved in another botched execution earlier this year.
Mark Fowler, the doctor who oversaw Pike’s botched execution, was also involved in the attempted execution of Tony Carruthers. His execution was abandoned in May after medical staff failed to establish IV access, a process that took more than an hour.
That said, Tennessee did successfully execute an inmate in August. Anthony Darrell Hines was executed at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville for the 1985 murder of Catherine Jean Jackson Jenkins.

They should bring in somebody from Hollywood - people die there all the time from “recreational” drugs, so obviously they’re familiar with the process...
They won’t execute her now if she has brain damage.
It is a travesty that it took 30 years. Should have been done Long ago. But now that 2 tries have been botched whether deliberately or not just keep up locked up.

Perhaps use an execution method similar to the method of murder used on the victims.
I wonder if the good doctor intentionally botched this job.
Do we know if he’s opposed to the death penalty?

I think these “botched” executions are on purpose. These are activists.
This isn’t a coincidence... This Dr. Mark Fowler is obviously a death penalty opponent and adjusting the drugs so that they can’t be lethal... Drug induced death penalties should be eliminated... Electric chair, hanging, firing squad, guillotine... All perfectly acceptable and for the most part foolproof... Drugs administered by a human... Prone to tampering... Not acceptable.
This Dr. Fowler should be charged, incarcerated and then let loose among the general prison population... Natural selection will take care of the rest.
I have read that manufacturers of some anesthetics do not allow their products to be used in lethal injections.
Maybe the doctors and prison people can’t use the “best” drugs for lethal injection.
We had to put down humanely an elderly roping horse we all liked a lot. He was like one of the family.
He weighed about 1000 pounds. The doc said to hold him still but, don’t let him fall on you. He was dead before he hit the ground. 10 seconds from the shot to totally dead.
Next time, Tennessee should just call a vet.

The doctor is not the one that establishes the IV. That failed in the previous case, and appears (to me) to be the cause in the current one.
I understand the grief of putting down dear pets. They give love and deserve the best.
