President Trump gave a triumphant State of the Union address on February 24th in which he (rightly) pointed out how much fuel prices had declined over his first year in office.
And then three days later he joined a long line of Republican morons in the White House by signed onto a stupid Middle East war that completely wrecked all the progress his administration had made up to that point. If this had all happened with a Democratic president in office, there wouldn't be enough power generating capacity in America to feed Trump's own hours-long meltdown on social media.

I remember the 92 election as providing one of the clearest examples of media bias I’ve ever seen. The recession actually ended early in the year, though Clinton successfully lied all year, with the help of the media, that it was ongoing, and that it was bad. In June unemployment ticked up. Per the article in the San Jose mercury News, everyone agreed that it was a fluke/ statistical anomaly , but that didn’t prevent them from putting the article on page one with this headline in 64 point type: ECONOMY HITS THE SKIDS

We are heading for a 2006-style result, but the underlying dynamic feels more like 1994-in-reverse.
Polling saturation means there will be no more surprise outcomes on the scale of 1994, but what was also unique about that year was Republicans winning seats they had NEVER won before (or damn near never).
In 2026 we have Democrats squawking delightedly about winning Senate seats in places like Texas and Kansas and Iowa and Ohio that are supposed to be “dark red” states. If Republicans can hold as many 3 of those 4, it’s an upset.
It’s not totally unprecedented for Democrats to win statewide in those places of course, but the way things are going — combined with supposedly-safe GOP House seats being endangered (albeit not quite at the level of the Rostenkowski upset in 1994), gives off very strong 1994 vibes. But the wrong way this time.
As far as the final shifts in the House and Senate that will take place in 2026, the 2006 data isn’t far off the mark: 2006 saw D+5 in the Senate and D+31 in the House. D+5 in the Senate this year *seems* unlikely, but perhaps not (Rats hold MI, NH, GA easily, gain NC easily, then OH and maybe TX, IA, AK).
The upcoming House disaster hopefully won’t reach D+31, but at this point D+10 appears to be an absolute floor and D+15 to D+25 is hardly impossible.
If the GOP can hold the damage to D+3 in the Senate and D+10 in the House, they’ll have done well *under the circumstances*.
Too bad the “circumstances” were largely self-inflicted.

There’s more. He invented the term soccer moms thereby taking the married women vote away from us. Bad no. He’s smarter than us.
After taking a long victory lap over the Clinton win, Rather started off a report saying "We are now seeing signs the economy is starting to rebound...". I turned off the TV and never watched another Establishment news broadcast again. 34 years and counting.
That’s because in 1981 the media was horrifically biased to the left, and worked overtime to present anything and everything conservative as being both evil and incompetent.

The "stupid Middle East war" had already been going on since late 2023 we just failed to acknowledge it. In the link below I used Brave search engine's AI to list the many times Iran's Houthi proxies attacked American ships in the Red Sea (read: Suez Canal) beginning in late 2023. Attacking our ships in the Suez Canal is a very big deal.
