Two young men, identified by police as leaders of a banned University of Wisconsin fraternity, were arrested for an alleged horrific hazing incident.
Fraternity president Brayden J Klein and vice president Samuel N Vane, both 20, were taken into custody by the Madison Police on Wednesday.
The officers arrived at the location at 8.20pm after they received an ‘anonymous tip' about the events that were taking place at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, located along the 100 block of Langdon Street, Madison, about 80 miles west of Milwaukee.
They allegedly found 30 half-clothed teens covered in ‘food, condiments, and other liquids’ in a grungy, sweltering basement.
‘A thermostat in the room was set to 81 degrees creating hot and humid conditions,’ the department report said.
The majority of the victims were recognized as 18-year-olds, the police added.
Klein and Vane were arrested and taken to Dane County Jail for disorderly conduct over the alleged hazing.
No other charges have been announced in relation to the incident, CBS News reported. The Madison Police Department said that the investigation remains ‘ongoing and active.’

I remember that building well. I lived on the same block in the Evans Scholars house in the early 80s. It still looks the same.

You are wrapping a, “forever” around serious brotherhoods of young men who enjoy the company of gentlemen, picked to join and be called brother to one another.
Yes, there are some negative stories but the worthy chapters of worthy Fraternities stand alone. Hazing has its boundaries and is always controlled by the worthy brothers.
The fraternity involved reflects on Wisconsin, the State, shame on them.

It is no secret that men are notoriously stupid when we are younger. (and yes, I concede, even when we get older)
I tell my wife of my exploits as a stupid boy, teenager, and young man, and she shakes her head in disbelief. It took me a long time to leave recklessness, stupidity, and foolhardiness behind me. When I tell her those things, she can only shake her head. She insists she or the girls she knew never did the risky or stupid things I did.
It's also no secret on the bell curve describing human IQ, that in the extreme tail of that curve as it flattens out and approaches pure genius, males are disproportionately represented. This is known.
What is not as well known is that on that same curve as it flattens out and approaches pure moron, males are also disproportionally represented. (as you can guess, we don't advertise this part much, but if you ever watch any of the "Jackass" movies, or seen that hilarious classic video of the "Butt-rocket Boy" (Note: Do not click on the link if seeing some stupid young guy bare his butt to prove he has the stupidity to do this)
And it is also well known that a lot of men grow out of that crazy behavior. (I have always been a proponent of the belief that women, who mature more quickly than we do, provide a moderating presence in our lives once we stop trying to impress them and chase them around!)
So the people who retort might well follow Churchill's mechanism:

They were all closed in a room with the thermostat at 81 and the large group seemed to be very active, in Minnesota when the temps outside were well below zero the unheated basements that we would have keg parties in would he hot and humid, and opening the basement windows barely helped.

If you read the article linked to, there’s mention of Alpha Epsilon Pi being a traditionally Jewish frat. It was founded back in the early 1900s by Jewish students denied membership in most university frats. Nothing to do with Yogi.
I can’t even discuss the hazing they did in Navy to the new guys to our squadron back in the Seventies...it sounds too outlandish and crazy to someone who wasn’t there.
