Disney+ has revised its Subscriber Agreement to explicitly permit advertising before and after movies and shows across every subscription plan, including the ad-free Premium tier that customers pay a premium specifically to avoid commercials.
According to the updated terms, which Disney began emailing to subscribers and requiring them to accept via an on-screen prompt, all plans “may include limited advertising content, ads before or after content playback, clips, and trailers for Disney content, products, and services, as well as branded or sponsored content.”
Disney describes the update as a “clarification” of existing language rather than an entirely new policy, and the company has stressed that ad interruptions during a movie or series itself remain exclusive to the cheapest “Standard with Ads” tier — content in the Standard and Premium libraries will still play without commercial breaks in the middle.

What’s the subscription for?
The subscription allows people to pay more for the same product.
Disney+ (or minus) can pound sand.
Walt is surely disgusted with the bastardization of his once-wholesome products.
Is Mr. Josip Kraljik writing from a foreign country with differing Disney+ terms? Because I am not seeing the verbiage he is referring to in the current Disney+ “Subscriber Agreement”/Terms of Use:
Here is the relevant section from the current Subscriber Agreement (02/05/2026):
“k. Service Tiers With or Without Ads. We offer different Disney+ and Hulu Service Tiers, some with advertisements and some predominantly without. Service Tiers described as “no ads” or “ad-free” are generally free of commercial interruptions, with certain exceptions that may change from time to time, including where: (i) streaming rights or other limitations require certain Content to play with ads; or (ii) ads are served in certain live or linear Content or special events (and replays thereof). Additionally, “no ads” or “ad-free” Service Tiers may contain limited promotional content, such as brief clips about the Bundles (including messages promoting an upgrade thereto) and other content available on any services associated with the Bundles, and branded content, product integrations, or sponsorship messaging.
Please note that if you subscribe to multiple (or a bundle of) Service Tiers, Content from any ad-supported Service Tier will play with ads, while Content from any “no ads” or “ad-free” Service Tier will not (except as described above).”

I’m so old I remember when we were sold cable TV as “TV without commercials!”.
I remember in the early days of network TV, the deal was we could watch their content for free because the networks’ costs were subsidized by commercials.
Amazon does the same thing on their programming...so far its just on theirs.

Many of us have watched vids, dvds, streamers, without commercials for years. We rather pay.
The 60s model of TV plus commercials is a ship that sailed.
New generations go elsewhere.

We were better off when we bought tickets and watched movies in theaters, and bought physical media for things we thought were keepers.
Many people, including me, have again started buying physical media because we don’t trust the streamers to keep it available. Or to refrain from woke editing with faked content inserted.
I don’t buy a lot of physical media, just things I seriously want in a permanent library. But now some of the streamers have stopped releasing physical media at all.
We were better off when we bought tickets and watched movies in theaters, and bought physical media for things we thought were keepers.
