8 NL teams are eliminated. Four teams are fighting for the 3 wild card slots. The Cubs and Padres are tied for first, the Phillies are third, and the Diamondbacks are in fourth place, 4 games behind the Phillies. (They play their next 3 games against the last-place Rockies, then their final 3 games against the Padres--they pretty much need to win all 6 games and have the Padres swept by the Dodgers to get to the playoffs. The Padres have won 13 of their last 14 games. That could be their best record in any 14-game stretch in their history.)
The AL is much harder to predict than the NL.
It will all be fun to watch.
If both the Rangers and Astros finish the season with a losing record, it would be the first time in a 162-Game season that a below .500 team made the post-season.
