Justice Department charges 16 across multiple states with alleged illegal voting, election crimes

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced charges against 16 people in multiple states in connection with alleged illegal voting, voter registration and other election-related crimes, including cases involving noncitizens accused of casting ballots in federal elections.

DOJ followed the announcement with a warning on social media, saying some of those charged allegedly voted in the 2022 and 2024 elections, and warning others against attempting to illegally participate in US elections.

“Let this be a warning to ANYONE trying to cheat and undermine our elections,” the DOJ wrote. “Spread the word!”

According to DOJ, eight non-citizens residing in Texas were charged, while the other cases involved defendants in Idaho, Georgia, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, New Jersey and Michigan.

The allegations include noncitizens voting in federal elections, false claims of US citizenship to register or vote, and false statements related to naturalization.

During the investigations, the DOJ said authorities also uncovered alleged passport and identification fraud, wire fraud and firearm-related offenses.

The cases are part of a broader Trump administration enforcement effort targeting alleged illegal voting and election-related crimes.

In Georgia, DOJ said Analiea Milliscent Eccles, a Venezuelan national and DACA recipient, voted nine times between 2008 and 2024. She was charged with voting as a noncitizen and falsely claiming US citizenship to vote.

Avila Gomez, a Mexican national residing in Idaho, is accused of falsely claiming US citizenship to register to vote and then voting in May 2022 and November 2024.

The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 explicitly prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

It is not legal in any state for a noncitizen to cast a ballot in an election for federal office. While federal law does not prohibit noncitizens from casting a ballot in state or local elections, no state currently allows noncitizens to vote in statewide elections.

Municipalities in three states—California, Maryland, and Vermont—and Washington, DC allow noncitizens to vote in certain local elections.1

San Francisco allows resident noncitizen parents and guardians to vote in school board elections.

Oakland passed a ballot measure in 2022 also giving noncitizen parents and legal guardians the ability to vote in school board elections. The measure is still pending implementation.

Several municipalities in Maryland and Vermont permit noncitizens to vote in municipal elections.

Washington, DC, began allowing noncitizen residents to vote in non-federal elections in 2022.

Election offices in communities that allow noncitizens to vote in local elections maintain processes to ensure that a registered noncitizen voter cannot vote for state or federal races. Maryland’s cities, for example, maintain separate ballots for municipal elections. This ensures that noncitizens cannot receive a ballot for state or federal contests.

They charged them with alleged crimes. I’m guessing they’re democrats. If they were republicans they’d have been charged with crimes. Now let’s see if I’m right…

These few people are all well and good despite costing at least multiple thousands of $$ to prosecute and secure convictions. And I AM happy to see them charged. It would be great if they could be held without bond and have their cases speedily resolved, hopefully with convictions and immediate deportations.
The article says there could be as many as 300,000 or more.

This is ridiculous. They will never be all called to account. Nor will they be rightfully deported. There are too many local government entities who want to subvert elections and let these people vote. They are not being held to account.

The real fraud is occurring in stuffing mailboxes with ballots harvested, unvetted and virtually untraceable fraudulent ballots. This has got to be attacked vigorously and it will probably take congressional action to reverse the mail in ballot changes rammed thru by the dumbles during covid and UPHELD by leftist judges.
But pubbies like Thune have little resolve to actually DO anything about it. He won’t even pass the SAVE act.
We will all just tsk tsk and lose our country.

These are little fish. It’s good they’ve been caught, but they need to catch and prosecute TPTB who are encouraging and facilitating the fraud.

It’s like emptying a swimming pool with a teaspoon.

I agree 100%.
There are handful of noncitizens voting, but I would believe, most noncitizens would not risk it.
Risk jail and deportation is not worth one vote.
Noncitizen voting is NOT what gave Biden 10 millions of illegal votes in 2020!
