And then someone at the ad company thought it was a good one. And then convinced OTHERS it was a good one. And then sold it to someone at converse who thought it was a good one, and then someone at converse decided that the company should run actually it. I cannot, very honestly, understand it. Kinda like that bizarre Jaguar ad a few years back. Totally and absolutely bizarre. Perhaps that was the point of it, but it sure as hell didn’t sell any cars.
There are many, many absolute and literal idiots (a medical term now considered to be ‘offensive’) running around out there. It’s a wonder things aren’t even worse than they are in many respects, but it (the popularly celebrated conduct and notions of said idiots) does often make me feel as if I’m living in a weird, pointless episode of the Twilight Zone.
This never would have happened with Don Draper.
