Former Sarasota, Florida, second grade student Krystal Davis remembers a wave of confusion washing over her and her classmates on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, after a suited man whispered into the ear of the president of the United States, who was seated just in front of the students.
Then-President George W. Bush was visiting Emma E. Booker Elementary School and had been listening intently to the children in Mrs. Sandra Daniels' second-grade class flexing their reading skills, when the look of admiration on his face suddenly gave way to an expression of concern.
Chief of Staff Andrew Card had just relayed to Bush that a second plane had crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. "America is under attack," he later recalled whispering to the president.
"You could see the shift with [the president] once he got the message, and then you could see it on his face," Davis said in an interview with ABC News commemorating 25 years since the 9/11 attacks. "And then the shift of him going back to his normal self and smiling like, 'I don't want to alarm the kids.'"
Teacher Daniels told Sarasota ABC affiliate WWSB in an interview published Tuesday that she "immediately knew something was wrong" at that moment.
"His entire demeanor changed," she recalled, referring to Bush.

And then the Saudis phoned him to remind him who his bosses were and it was all “religion of peace” after that. May piss be upon him.
Interesting that ABC would run a story sympathetic to a Republican president.
Oh, wait. The president is that piece of trash George W. Bush. Bush of course completely botched our response to 9/11. Islam is now stronger than it was before the attack.
But Bush is good pals with the slimy Obamas. So I guess ABC is okay with him.
Yeah. The media is fine with Traitor Bush now. Just like they were with John McCain.
(Bush of course completely botched our response to 9/11)
Yep
The day will come when the Leftwing media will praise Trump as one of the great presidents. It will take a few decades, but they will love Trump and contrast him with whatever Republican is in ascendance in 2050 — that guy is a Nazi!! What happened to the old Republican Party? Remember when the GOP was led by a statesman like Trump and not some Nazi like that 2050 guy?
They did it with Reagan and Bush.
(But Bush is good pals with the slimy Obamas)
Yep. And the Clinton Gang..
Same with GHWB. Going way back.
I won’t mention Mena, Arkansas.
Oops...
‘You could see it on his face’
See what. Guilt?
I want the bush haters here to explain how Gore would have done better.
I’m reposting this because, well, it’s worth it.
Yea….Dubya was clearly not One Of Us Little People. And he’s clearly turned out to be playing for the Other Team.
But….consider the alternative paths. We should take the Win.
Stick with me.
After 8 years of Clinton, it was either 4 more years with Mr PMRC or Dubya. Thanks to a few hundred voters in Florida, we got the lesser of 2 evils. Can you imagine how Gore would have responded to 9/11?
In 2004, it was either Dubya or Lurch. What‘s a man to do?
Now, the interesting thing is that had Lurch won, he’d have presided over the 2008 meltdown and we’d have dodged Obama….but elected President McCain. Yikes!
It gets better.
Ultimately, the 2nd Amendment was “saved” with his second term, as were millions of potentially aborted babies. Per Wikipedia, these are the highlights of his second term:
“Bush reached multiple free trade agreements and successfully nominated John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. He sought major changes to Social Security and immigration laws, but both efforts failed. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq continued, and in 2007 he launched a surge of troops in Iraq. The Bush administration’s response to Hurricane Katrina and the dismissal of U.S. attorneys controversy came under attack, with a drop in his approval ratings. The 2008 financial crisis dominated his last days in office as policymakers looked to avert a major economic disaster, and he established the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to buy toxic assets from financial institutions.”
The ONLY thing that mattered in this list was the two SCOTUS picks. Yeah yeah…Roberts. I know. But with President Lurch - or Hore as a Lilly 2-term President - instead we’d have two hyper liberals on the court, and the 2nd Amendment would be a collective right in a 6-3 Heller ruling.
And Roe would still be the Law of the Land. Indeed, it is arguable that without Bush begetting Obama, we’d never have gotten to Trump. We MAY have gotten Hillary somewhere in that alternative timeline.
So yeah….Dubya was terrible president. But on an all-in basis, I’ll take Bush II with Roberts and Alito, the right to KABA, and the repeal of federal legal infanticide over a couple of Merrick Garlands, more dead babies, and guns being treated by the feds like how the Burgermeister Meisterburger treated toys.
Alternative timeline…..
2008 financial crisis gives us President McCain.
He wins re-election in 2012 because the economy is good.
In 2016, Sarah Palin goes against Hillary or Obama and the MSM crushes Palin.
We get 8 years of either loser, which, given McCain, means 16 consecutive years of statism, more abortion, destruction of the 2nd Amendment, and who knows what additional acid poured on life, liberty, and property.
Yeah..I like the timeline in which we’re living, warts and all.
And that idiot opened the flood gates to import as much islamic trash as fast as possible. Now, islam rules New Yuck and there is an Islamic cult “prayer” section facing mecca at the memorial at the NYFD HQ for muzzie turds to stick their arses in the air and bless the victory over the great Satan.
You raise a good point. What exactly was Gore’s relationship with the Saudis?
