The President was granted the authority to pause crude oil export in the law Congress passed to permit crude oil exports. Trump order it to lower crude costs and gasoline prices before the midterms. Should he do it?

Emergency Powers: The President can suspend or restrict crude oil exports for up to 90 days (or up to a year under certain national security provisions) during a declared national emergency.
Statutory Roots: The 2015 legislation lifting the historic export ban preserved executive authority under laws like the Energy Policy and Conservation Act and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
I say we stop exporting it to New York, California and Minnesota to start. They hate “Big Oil” anyway.
Well, that would reduce prices then.
The whole point of being energy independent of the rest of the world (as we are thanks to domestic production) is to buffer against supply chain disruptions or price hikes in an unstable global market. It’s time to exercise the power of and reap the benefits of that independence, so yes, Trump should put a temporary hold on oil exports to stabilize the domestic market.
Bahamas and Mexico do. Short round trip.

Yes we do. Oil is currently being exported because they can pump it out of the ground for cheap and sell if for big bucks overseas. It’s all about what is available closest to the refineries.
Zero export of any refined product out of this country for 90 days.
Also dilute diesel fuel with vegetable oil- which many countries do now.

That’s one of the main reasons it gets exported to begin with.
Another problem that should have been solved 20 years ago. Blocked by Democrats. Same with SS reform, etc.

I posted this just before noon:
Congress could bar the export of liquid hydrocarbons by tanker or pipeline after 9/27/2026 if the WTI price was above $70/barrel in the past 14 days.
NOTE: The period should be less than the time it takes a tanker to cross the Atlantic so Europe doesn’t send every tanker it can get to deplete our supplies.
Do people realize we’ve spent 30+ years closing refineries . Since 1990 to 2026 1,662 refineries have been closed. What does that do to gas prices? Refineries don’t pop back into exist like mushrooms afer a spiring rain!
