It was earlier reported that certain facts and evidence about Karmelo Anthony and Austin Metcalf’s past were not revealed to the jury during Anthony’s trial because of a gentleman’s agreement between the defense and prosecution.
Now that Anthony’s new defense team is appealing his conviction, the controversial evidence has been revealed. The Daily Mail has obtained a 75-page court document that discloses Anthony’s violent pictures, racist remarks and homophobic texts.
One piece of evidence is an image taken on May 5, 2024, which shows Anthony flaunting an AK-47-style rifle with his three friends. Six months later, he allegedly recorded a shirtless video showing off a handgun. In October 2024, he texted his girlfriend that he might go to jail for stealing a watch from a neighbor’s house. “Burglary is up to a year,” he wrote to his girlfriend, Valeria Perez.
Then, in January 2025, he allegedly recorded another violent video, which showed him pointing a gun toward a house. Anthony also made alleged racist remarks against Black people despite being Black himself. A month before Metcalf’s stabbing, he texted his girlfriend, “I f—--- despise black b—---.”

I despise the Daily Mail for taking credit for the work of others.
Independent journalist Sarah Fields revealed all those texts and that information a week before the DM published their article. She spent her own money and did a FOIA request to obtain the documents. DM just copied her work and called it an “exclusive”.
I thought his appeal was already denied a couple of weeks ago.

They're appealing the denial which is why there's new discovery.
