Could the former First Lady of the United States eventually become the next commissioner of the WNBA?
There have been rumblings throughout this season about WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert stepping away at the end of the year. Well, she confirmed this Friday that she'll be retiring on Dec. 31.
"Over the years, it has been amazing to watch WNBA players thrive and lead the massive cultural surge around women's sports," Engelbert said in a statement. "I retire knowing we have built something bigger, stronger and more enduring than we could have imagined. I am grateful to the WNBA and NBA team owners and staff, players, investors, fans and the powerhouse league office staff, who believed in what this league could become. I retire with immense gratitude and tremendous optimism for the future of the WNBA, with the best yet to come."
According to ESPN, the process to find Engelbert's replacement will begin this month. Although a favorite hasn't emerged, the latest odds from BetOnline are quite interesting.
As of this Friday night, Michelle Obama is the betting favorite to be the next WNBA commissioner at 3/1 odds.

That is a polished lie. What ha led the surge in women’s sports is the media and the transition to violence. The only thing any group or single player has done best is stay out of the way.

MO graduated from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1988 but is a three year study. She worked as a corporate associate at the Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin, where she specialized in intellectual property and entertainment law.
She forfeited her law license in 1992 saying she didn’t want to accomplish the requirement to take continuing education classes and pay hundreds of dollars in annual fees. She hasn’t practiced law or worked in her “cheap” degree for 34 years and has been nothing but a media created figure head. She’s the perfect choice to be another figure head as without the media and favors, she would be on welfare.

I have never understood her popularity.
For the most part she performed the role of First Lady in a perfunctory manner. Not perfectly, but good enough. But, I don’t know why that qualifies her for another job.
Also, and to her credit, unlike The PIAPS, she’s done a reasonable job of keeping her mouth shut, though not as good as Rosalind Carter, Barbra Bush, or Nancy Reagan.
The WNBA is a joke.

As long as he has staff to do the work & make decisions, he’ll be perfect for the job. Going to yard parties and fund raisers is the only work he’s suited for.
