Among the various nationalities that make up Latin America, Argentines are the most universally disliked. I have no idea why. I have friends and relatives who are Mexican, Colombian and Puerto Rican and they all agree.

There’s also the issue of culture and demographics. Japan doesn’t have some of the issues the have in the States.
All the Italians moved in.

I wonder if Detroit experienced the same thing I witnessed in Chicagoland. The Tool & Die industry depended on people who could do high school math and figure out where to put the hole in the metal. In the 1950s and 60s most of those workers were immigrants from Europe. Lousy English...but good at geometry.
Increasingly in the late 60s and especially in the 70s and 80s American kids could not do math. (Sec of Education Lynn Martin & NEA sweetheart came from Rockford, IL... the Tool & Die capital of the world. How ironic.)
The result was that the tool & die jobs went to Asia...first to Japan, Korea then later to China. The lesser skilled manufacturing jobs in Chicagoland then followed the skilled jobs to Asia.

Your low quality domestic car list actually includes a relatively high quality European import. Ford Fiestas were made in Cologne Germany and were highly reliable and high mpg cars. They might not have been exactly Toyota quality, but they were far better than domestic vehicles and actually better than most European vehicles. Fiestas had a very long and successful production run in Europe, but Ford stopped import to boost sale of domestic alternatives that were viewed as more profitable for the company’s image and pocketbook.
Free traitors taught me this: tariffs are bad and free trade is good . It doesn’t matter where products are made. The cheaper wins. Therefore we should import all the beef we can as long as it is cheaper and equal quality. Same with cars and everyone else. If ranchers go out of business who cares. Globalism is good. We should have an h visa to replace ranchers too.
Socialists and communists are what is the problem. Ban them from any office everywhere.
