A 20-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh is making waves after taking it upon himself to clean the heavily polluted Ajnar River.
Bittu, also known as Bittu Tabahi, has been removing plastic, discarded waste, and other trash from the rivers and public places as part of his efforts to tackle water pollution.
Instead of waiting for authorities or an organised clean-up drive, Bittu has been carrying out the work himself and spending his own money on the supplies needed for the clean-up.
In his recent video, Bittu responded to several users who accused him of taking such initiatives to go viral without actually cleaning the river. He shared details of how he carried out the clean-up drive, which took over three months per ghat.
“You can see that other than making videos, I did get some work done,” he said in the video.
He also highlighted an X post by Anand Mahindra that went viral earlier this year.

I can’t see India ever becoming rich and prosperous. Its culture is too low trust for India as a people to fix itself. L.The best thing the West can do is seal it off and prevent any immigration from anyone but Christians.

You can never bathe in the same river twice, but you can clean it a million times over
11% of Indians don't have indoor plumbing. That means the poop and the pee of 163 million people is going straight to the groundwater.
On top of that, they don't have nearly enough waste treatment plants.
That means the human waste from an additional 830 million Indians is being dumped into some body of water without treatment.
I don't see one guy picking up trash on a riverbank is affecting that problem one iota.
India can never develop a burgeoning Middle Class because the Hindu's caste system forbids upward social mobility. If you were born poor it's because of your deeds in past lives, which means you deserve to be where you are.
This also is why Hindus don't proselytize. If you were meant to be Hindu, you'd have been born that way. Any attempt to convert non-Hindus is viewed as rejection of Hindu canon.
It's not unlike official government policy in England was for centuries. There were government-supported social and financial barriers designed to keep the poor poor.
It sort of begs the question whether the Indian government would want to change the status quo if it could because as is human labor is one of the cheapest commodities you can buy there.
...because it is full of Indians.
AND they are bringing it to all the nations that are importing them.

Trash and junk in the river is unsightly. But, the real source of pollution and disease is human waste.
That is an extraordinarily difficult problem for India.
