Oh Deer! Deputies respond to St. Johns County home after buck found in bathroom

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputies had an unexpected encounter Aug. 23, when they responded to a home and discovered something far from ordinary in the bathroom — a large buck.

The sheriff’s office shared body camera video of the incident, giving a firsthand look at what they called a ‘deer-in-the-headlights’ moment.

Armed with a pool brush, deputies managed to guide the buck safely out of the home and back into the woods - but not before the confused creature fell into the backyard pool.

He eventually found his way out and back into the woods.

I spoke to Moe Howard in March of 1975, just a couple of months before he passed. I was a high school student at the time, and several other Stooge fan classmates and I took note of Larry Fine's passing early that year and realized we really should call Moe. We called from my parents' home landline, and it took quite a while to track him down. We tried NYC, we tried LA, we called booking agencies, talent agents, etc., and completely blew up my parents' phone bill ($700 was real money back then). Finally, it occurred to us to call the Screen Actors Guild and pretend to be from one of the NY booking agencies we had called earlier. The person at SAG asked if we wanted his agent or his home number. We called him at home on a Saturday afternoon. His wife answered and said he was taking a nap, and suggested we call back in 90 min. We did and had a very nice 7-8-minute conversation with him. He was lucid and had great reminiscences of playing the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee (where we were calling from) back in the 1920's. He coughed a little, but was clear and in good spirits. A cassette tape of the call was made, but has not been seen in decades.

About two months later, I was watching Linda Ronstadt perform at the PAC in Milwaukee, and during a break my date turned to me and said: "I heard you talked to Moe of the Three Stooges; is that true?" I recall having an odd sinking feeling at that moment. The next morning, I was reading the paper, and there it was - "Moe Howard, Dead at 74"

Wow...nice story. I watch the Stooges on Saturday night on ME TV. 2 Hours of just hilarious stuff. Nothing even comes close to them. Pure gold.
