The federal government plans to start excavation over the next two weeks on a massive triumphal arch across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum said Thursday, launching a controversial project championed by President Trump.
Construction at the site is expected to take two to three years, with an intense 20-hour-a-day, year-round work schedule, the National Park Service has said, meaning the project could wrap up toward the end of Mr. Trump's second term.
The 250-foot-tall arch — which will be clad in granite and topped by three golden statues plus an observation deck — is slated for a traffic circle near Arlington Memorial Cemetery and across the river from the Lincoln Memorial.

I Googled and found where an article stated that Trump and donors are pitching in with 100 million and the government earmarked 13 + 2 (15 million total) for this project.
I have no first hand knowledge.
Just what I found doing searches.
Because it’s Trump, our MSM will of course attack.
I do not know.
Herr Speer approves.
There are a bunch in Germany too.
Personally I have no skin in the game and don’t really care. I will never go to that fetid city. However I support anything that drives the democrats insane.
Yes, you are correct.
Bad timing.
It looks too French for my tastes.
Not sure how it will make America Great again.
Is it being built with Private Money?
We do not have an imperial presidency. That is a contradiction in terms. Trump seems to have forgotten that.
Arch of Constantine in Rome.
They do matter. Why should Trump be permitted to disregard them and ruin the aesthetics of viewing other sites?
good call.
Do they really think that fence is going to keep the Arch from getting out?
Any idea if Washington or Lincoln put up their monuments during their first term?
