Vice President Vance defended his relationship with right-wing media personality Tucker Carlson during Thursday’s White House press briefing, saying he won’t allow political disagreements to ruin friendships.
Carlson this past week has said President Trump should be removed from office for “actively considering” preemptive nuclear strikes, while also saying he wouldn’t vote for former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), the GOP candidate in Michigan’s Senate race, “at gunpoint.”
“Everybody knows that Tucker Carlson and I are friends, and I think it’s very obvious that Tucker has said some things that I disagree with,” Vance said when asked Thursday about people who are uneasy about his relationship with the former Fox News host.
“He said some things about the president of the United States that I think are just wrong,” he added.
The vice president also said he disagreed with Carlson’s apparent support of Abdul El-Sayed, Rogers’s Democratic opponent in the Wolverine State.
“I’d like to have a non-crazy person like Mike Rogers representing Michigan in the United States Senate, rather than a crazy person like El-Sayed,” Vance said during the White House press briefing.
However, he went on to say that he tries not to let political disagreements define his friendships.
“Tucker is a friend of mine,” the vice president continued. “Tucker is a friend, despite the fact that we disagree on a number of things. And I’m not going to play the game where I throw friends under the bus because I have political disagreements with them.”
“I think that is a terrible place for the United States to go,” he added.
Carlson described El-Sayed’s campaign as “Trumpian” during a podcast episode released Wednesday.
The right-wing pundit has long been a major booster of Trump but has been increasingly critical of him since the Iran war started early this year. Both Carlson and Vance have promoted an isolationist, anti-war worldview distinct from more traditional Republican hawkishness.
While Vance has not been publicly critical of the war, he has reportedly been the most skeptical member of Trump’s Cabinet throughout the conflict.
Carlson pointed to the president’s threat of the “total destruction” of Iran in his comments calling for his removal.
“The second any president actively considers first-use of nuclear weapons, that person should be removed from office immediately. Immediately, because that’s gotta be the red line, destroying all of humanity with a nuclear strike,” Carlson said.
“Why isn’t there an attempt to remove him from office, like, immediately?” he added.

Carlson wants President Trump removed, but Vance sings Kumbaya?
I thought the same.
Vance is a wise man.
It’s always good to counter the spirit of antagonism.
Antagonism between groups and individuals has been orchestrated by America’s enemies in their war against us.
“I think Vance is digging his own political grave”
I think you’re right.
If he can’t cut all ties with that demon possessed (literally) Muslim, JD has no future.
He doesn’t have to turn on him. Just shake his head and ignore.
Why would he be friends with this nutjob. And that goes back to when Carlson was on MSNBC, PBS, CNN.
maybe there is a VP virus we dont know about... After a certain amount of time, the VP virus deteriorates the spine... We’ve seen it happen!!
“President Trump should be removed from office for “actively considering” preemptive nuclear strikes”
Lie in the question and story meant to push Trump is crazy.
Who asked the question, was it a reporter from the Shill trying to ask a question for a news story rather than a relevant question. Seriously, does what Vance think about Tucker rise to a question at a WH press conference - lame.
Yikes.
If he can’t cut all ties with that demon possessed (literally) Muslim, JD has no future.

disagree. wishcasting won’t change things either. Vance is currently the leading contender, with Trump’s blessing to be the republican candidate for president in 2028. Trump has also said that a Vance/Rubio ticket would be the dream team so likely rubio will be the veep and eight years later the republicans pick for president.
Trump has said that he is the most pro Israeli president Israel will ever get. If Trump gets things right then Iran will be the last middle east war in a long time and Israel won’t need the USA.
that’s what’s in the tea leaves. we’ll see if it works out.
Looks like both Vance and Michigan’s el-Sayed for Senate need to say: “I have no friends.”
Their friends will be around after the candidates lose the elections.
Otherwise, they go to sleep beside dogs and wake up with vote stealing fleas.
Did Vance have to answer the question? No.
The lack of ability to recognize the enemy was the major flaw of the Bush family.
GWB being best buddies with Bill Clinton was the beginning of the end of his presidency.
Seems like Vance has a similar problem.
OR more likely Carlson is already whispering in his ear.
McCain
Turtle
Crazy Liz
MTG
Massie
Pence
These Republicans were ALL flipped by someone whispering in their ear.
Vance better wake up FAST or he is going to go the way of Pence.

Tucker Carlson in a long “history lesson” to his viewers / listeners - advised that during WWII, Winston Churchill jailed “the leader of his opposition party” (false) and said they actually were patriotic and were falsely accused of disloyalty by Churchill (false). The person Tucker was defending was Oswald Mosely, who was literally married at the home of Goebbels and the wedding was attended by Adolf Hitler.

Tucker Carlson is speaking at a conference in Doha ......sponsored in part by The Atlantic Council, who stand for the exact opposite of America First as he does podcast after podcast telling his audience this country is captured by Israel and every person in the conservative movement whose actually fighting for America First is your enemy.
https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4262726/posts Carlson’s interview on Tuesday with alleged historian Darryl Cooper — like his interview in April with Reverend Munther Isaac, referenced in today’s flashbacks — was so much worse than merely glib or incurious.
Carlson chose to interview Cooper, whom he endorsed as “the best and most honest popular historian in the United States” to learn exactly how World War II didn’t happen. According to Cooper — and Carlson nodded along the entire time — Winston Churchill was perhaps “the chief villain of the Second World War” and “primarily responsible for that war becoming what it did.” It’s true that Hitler did not want or expect Britain to fight. He wanted Britain to acquiesce to German dominance of Europe from the Urals to Gibraltar and subsume the UK to Nazi interests. This is all a matter of historical record. Britain could fight or submit — that was Hitler’s choice, not Churchill’s.
FLASHBACK: Carlson chose to interview Isaac to find out how the Jewish State of Israel treats Christians. Isaac is a priest who neither lives nor works in Israel and who uses the loaded phrase “Occupied Palestine” as his location on his Twitter/X profile. He is a Palestinian Christian from Palestinian-controlled Bethlehem, where Christian ministers serve at the mercy of the Palestinian Authority.
Recently, Carlson has repeatedly taken to praising sharia law and suggesting Islam and its totalitarian legal code offer an inspiring moral clarity in contrast with today’s Western decadence. He has visited virtually seemingly every country in the Arab world, produced propaganda films for a few of them, and even announced his attention to buy a house a Qatar. He has called Hamas not a jihadist but a political organization, said he’d apologize to the family of Osama bin Laden, and has severely downplayed the Americans who have been killed in recent decades by Islamism. And earlier this week, the eponymous Tucker Carlson Network, in a seemingly earnest post better suited for a satirical Babylon Bee headline, offered this cherry on top: “Muslims love Jesus.”
Vance may be forced to eventually renounce his relationship with Carlson, if Carlson goes down the tubes any further. He’s on his way.
Vance haters are very concerned.
Yep
Hey JD. Your friend is as "crazy" as El-Sayed. Dump him.
I have lost all confidence in JDV as my next president. Secretary Marco Rubio is my choice now. Vance is too “Tuckey Karlson” for me. I hate Karlson!! He is a PUNK!!!!!!
