NASA's new flagship astronomical observatory was launched into space from Florida on August 30 on a mission to probe some of the biggest mysteries in astrophysics and cosmology. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, a roughly $4 billion project, was carried aloft from NASA's Kennedy Space Center aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. The telescope is designed to investigate cosmic enigmas such as dark energy and dark matter, while also testing gravity at vast scales and searching for exoplanets. Roman will travel through space toward an orbital location called Lagrange Point 2, situated about a million miles (1.6 million km) from Earth. Its mission is planned for five years, though the U.S. space agency said the telescope may have enough fuel for five additional years.

I know the country spends money on stuff far crazier than that. And I know that we can’t afford to fall behind in the “telescope race” (if there is such a thing).
But it must be said we are a debtor nation. That project was funded by borrowed money.
Good luck investigating “dark matter”.

I’ve seen articles referencing just ‘Nancy Roman’.
But she seems to have used all three names on a lot of her research publications.
They have to make absolutely sure you know that Nancy Grace Roman was a woman. Because diversity.
Did you know that now NASA is atoning for its sins by naming things for women? Nancy Grace Roman was a woman. And too many things were named for men ... so now NASA is naming things for women. Women like Nancy Grace Roman.
BTW, in case you were unaware, this new really cool telescope is named for Nancy Grace Roman. A woman.
It's all very stylish.
Nancy Grace Roman was the first head of Astronomy at NASA.
That seems like a pretty good reason to name a telescope after her.
and how many of those pics will be overly enhanced or photoshopped fakes like the majority of the other 2 telescopes offer us?
I have seen so many pics combining some random human’s imagination to overly enhanced images I have no anticipation for what comes out of this telescopes control center... 0 faith...
They’ll get down to the Roman Telescope eventually. Like Webb and Hubble.
Do you think they actually snap ‘photographs’ like you do with a camera?
do you think nebulas and galaxies are close enough you can get them in the back grounds of recognizable mountain and volcano ranges? ...and why today, and only recently, are all the pics from the other 2 telescopes overly enhanced with the color orange? all the galaxies, no matter how many light years apart/away, ALL have the same EXACT hue and brightness of orange??
