AI Wearables Are Coming: What Happens When Your Assistant Is Always With You?
WhatsInAI ^ | 8/31/2026

For years, most of us have met artificial intelligence through screens. We type a question into a chatbot, ask a phone assistant for the weather, or use an app that recommends music, videos, or shopping ideas. But a new wave of technology is moving AI off the screen and into the things we wear.

These devices are called AI wearables. They can look like smart glasses, earbuds, watches, rings, pendants, pins, or even clothing. Instead of sitting on a desk or inside an app, the assistant is with you as you walk, travel, learn, work, cook, exercise, and explore the world.

The big idea is simple: what if your helpful digital assistant could see what you see, hear what you hear, and support you in the moment?

That does not mean the future will be full of robots following us around. It means the computers we already use may become smaller, more natural, and more personal. Instead of stopping to open an app, you might simply ask, “What building is that?” or “How do I fix this bike chain?” and get help right away.

I think there already apps that can do that. I think the latest iPhones can do that. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

I would love that feature myself…Actually, I would love a free app that would transcribe English for me since I can’t hear worth a crap. My hearing aids just ain’t cutting it.

George Costanza invented the iToilet app

Then invested his money with Bernie Madoff

The big idea is simple: what if your helpful digital assistant could tell the Committee for State Security everywhere you go and everything you see, hear, and do when you get there?

Personal technological assistants have been with us since the first portable computers and portable calculators. Now we have personal assistants in many different shapes and sizes and capabilities.

AI is just an enhancement to those assistants.

You are on the right track.

If you see someone with wearables immediately incriminate them in criminal activity.

“Did they catch you dealing meth yet?”

Lol.

Coming soon from a factory in Japan

Thank you very much

For doing the jobs that nobody wants to

And thank you very much,
For helping me escape, when I needed to

Thank you, thank you, thank you

I want to thank you

The problem’s plain to see, Too much technology

Machines to save our lives

Machines dehumanize

The time has come at last

To throw away this mask

Now everyone can see

My true identity

It’s not a big leap from the current smartphones we carry around now. Yes I know many here don’t but enough of society does. As long as it isn’t implanted one can always go for a walk without though.

I’m an Android user and I can tell you that on the latest Pixel phone you have to tell it what language it’s hearing. And it also doesn’t have the Filipino dialects that my in-laws speak. (Or the folks on the wife’s home island for that matter).

They’re making moves in the right direction, but they’re not there yet. And I’m with you, if I’m wrong, someone please point me to something that does what I want!

Yep nothing will be hidden as time progresses.

Flock LPR cameras capture vehicle events, including license
plates, vehicle characteristics, and the time and location a
vehicle passed a camera.

You are wrong in one important way (among many minor ones, but let us stay with the important errors).

You can disassemble the code of any personal assistant program and discover security vulnerabilities, and the many thousands of skilled developers would do so and post the results to slash-dot and reddit and the like. While in theory you could do the same with the interface to AI, most of AI runs off-device... and it can lie about what makes it up.

If we are forced to or not is the critical thing. Currently smartphone usage is voluntary.

Wait until your “Digital Assistant” devices are all subpeonaed for your next divorce, civil lawsuit, or criminal charge.

I actually saw a YouTube video (from an employment attorney) that said that emails and instant-messages have been subpoenaed for a decade or two, maybe more, and a recent ruling by some judge or another states that AI is equally vulnerable to discovery. There is no attorney-client privilege with AI and thus it is like any other media (to the courts).

There is one bit of good news, but it could quickly change: Most AI platforms (such as ChatGPT) will erase your session within 30 days of you performing a manual delete. You cannot subpoena that which does not exist. Of course, that timeframe could change with or without notice, and you have to remember to manually delete the incriminating session.

Even better is to run AI locally on one of your machines and have it reach out to an API. There may be ways to anonymize that network traffic.

I should have been an attorney, but I love tech too much.
