Target has found itself at the center of controversy over a children's Halloween costume. It has since removed it from its website, issuing a public apology after critics called the product's imagery racially insensitive.
The image on Target's website showed a Black child modeling the costume in a pose that critics said evoked racist imagery associated with the Jim Crow and minstrel eras, according to Forbes. Such depictions historically relied on demeaning stereotypes and exaggerated portrayals of Black people.
"As a company, we know we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry," Target said in a statement to Forbes. "The costume is offensive and should never have been part of our assortment. It is no longer available for sale. We know this is especially hurtful for our Black guests, team members, and partners. Removing the costume is an important first step, and the company is looking closely at how this happened and what needs to change to ensure this won't happen again."

“The racism was using a black child to model the costume.”
So next year black kids are not hired, a white kid models the creepy clown costume, and that community will still bellyache.
I still remember when I was in Walgreens picking up a Rx and I was walking past the costume rack. A young boy pointed at an Obama mask and said “Is this one scary?” Without missing a beat, the dad said “It scares the hell out of me!”
Yes, white provides greater contrast for the color of the bright makeup.
But if they put white base makeup on the kid how would you know he is Black?
Target would not get credit for having a Black model.
I remember when Halloween was fun and wasn’t being targeted by the left for elimination.
These are the same retards that banned Aunt Jamima. I loved Aunt Jamima ,there is no end to their hatred .
“The racism was using a black child to model the costume.”
Not doing so would have violated the “use blacks portrayed as high IQ in 99% of all advertising” policy.
Maybe next Halloween, Target can put a white kid in blackface in the costume. I mean, if the leftists want to be triggered, why not go all the way?
No, no, no; Antifa/BLM thugs must riot and burn down every Target store.
Consider it an aspect of ethnic cleansing.
This could be a good thing.
If you get hurt feelings from costumes, words or anything else just suck it up and start acting like adults. I for one am damn tired of your petty complaints.
Drag Queen = Blackface Minstrel. Although the minstrels crated better music.
It’s right on.
Probably a liberal white woman who complained about this.
By the women.
It’s a case of what Tom Wolfe called “Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers” back in 1970.
Wolfe was writing about professional race hustlers using fake anger to steamroll government program managers to get them to donate money.
Well it also works great on intimidating corporations. I’m pretty sure that Jesse Jackson perfected that technique.
Will corporations ever figure out that it’s all a big act?
Of course not. They are no smarter than the GOP Establishment which is equally brainless when a fake charge of racism is hurled their way.
I remember years ago a black man who went to a Halloween Party dressed in white sheets. You know the meaning of White Sheets back then.
Bonfire movie was I thought ok
Couldn’t make it today the stereotypes
I’ve told you I think I flew with Wolfe once
About 3 hours
Mesmerizing he was very open
And southern
That my dad was a vmi grad and I was Mississippi gave me the intro for him to wax and not mind my “interview”
Houston to la guardia I think
That would have been a fun conversation.
Tom Wolfe was definitely southern, born in Richmond. Not to be confused with the other southern writer Thomas Wolfe of NC and a generation earlier.
I think I’ve read most of Tom Wolfe’s writing, or at least given that goal a good try.
I used to read a lot of books. I never let school get in the way of my education.
