Radical Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s racially charged swipe at Second Lady Usha Vance is badly backfiring, threatening to alienate Michigan’s 130,000 Indian-Americans and crucial female voters, insiders told The Post.
The unprovoked jab at the second lady exposed El-Sayed’s own insecurities said one GOP insider, who accused the anti-Israel Democrat of victimizing women to look tough when he snidely posted to X: “So do we think JD is taking Usha with him back in time to meet Papaw, or no …”
“I think Abdul has a Napoleon complex and he victimizes women to look tough instead of the actual men he claims to have a problem with,” the insider told The Post.
Vance himself has yet to address the swipe at his wife – but is expected to put El-Sayed on blast when he flies to Michigan Monday to campaign in the state’s 10th Congressional District near Detroit, insiders told The Post.
“For sure” he’s going to come out swinging, state GOP party co-chair Sunny Reddy told The Post. “He’s going to see more reaction from the community,” he said.
The swing state ranks third nationally in female voter participation, with 69% of women turning out, according to Census Bureau data, about 10 points above the national average.
Republicans see an opportunity to try to peel away South Asian voters from El-Sayed, whose parents are Egyptian immigrants, in a race that pits him against former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.).

Egypt is not South Asian.
They regard the mohammedans as uncouth, uneducated, terrorists.
They have nothing in common.
Every time i see El-Sayed’s face he reminds me of somebody and now it just came to me, far-left,gay and over-exposed actor Pedro Pascal.
sort of understanding many female voters that doesn’t seem to help our cause when many vote on looks and smile.

Sayed wants sharia law, which means ALL women have to walk around in burka’s and cant leave their house without a man allowing them to leave. I wonder if the “My body my choice” women want to live like that. The same ones who b*tch about those cameras all over the place invading on people’s privacy also are the same ones who want the Govt to control their health care

Vance’s wife is South Asian. The idea is that taking a jab at her will alienate voters of South Asian descent.
You know what this means?!? Now he will need 200% of twice the registered voters in Detroit to pull this one out.

They are implying that the South Asian voters are his (you can not peel away something unless someone already has it) because his parents are Egyptian immigrants.
The sub-text here is "all people with skin darker than a paper bag stick together". Or all migrants support each other. This is, of course, not the case but it is a narrative pushed by the media.
With all due respect, I think that’s more your inference than what’s implied in the article. Voters of Indian decent in Michigan have leaned slightly more towards Democrats, though that has flipped recently. Still, it’s roughly 50/50. So I thought the implication was clear that by insulting a prominent public figure of Indian descent El-Sayed might lose votes that otherwise might be reflexively cast for the Dem. I didn’t think his Egyptian background or Islam had anything to do with it. Only about 10-15% of Indians in the U.S. are Muslims.
