AP Photo/Niranjan Shrestha A massive disaster struck the Nepal-Tibet border Wednesday morning.
Hundreds of tourists and locals are missing as a massive flash flood swept through villages along the border.
The flash flood which has devastated settlements in northern Nepal was caused by an earthquake triggering a large landslide which blocked the Bhote Koshi river, according to Nepal’s foreign minister Shishir Khanal.
“An earthquake occurred at 8:37 a.m. today, and due to it, a large landslide occurred, blocking the river, which appears to have caused the flood,” Khanal said during a meeting at the House of Representatives.
The video footage is scary.

It translates: “Oh my God, that’s so creepy. May the deceased rest in peace.”
Awful stuff. Even the birds are fleeing. RIP
Some died running, some died standing, all died wet and muddy.
😲 WOW 😮😳
Looking around, information out India is speculation that a glacier ice dam in Tibet (China) blocked the Linde river for a long period of time and created a huge glacier lake that broke apart around the time of the earthquake.
They will never find all those folks. Buried under tons of mud.
And likely miles away..............
Yup.
Yes.
I admit this is something that has haunted me, even long before the tsunamis in Japan or Thailand.
Many years ago before those tsunamis I had a dream that was vivid in the extreme.
I was in France, and walking along a touristy place on the ocean. It was a beautiful day, and people were strolling along a boardwalk that ran parallel to a seawall on a small harbor that had boats of various sizes moored and tied to a pier.
I seemed to think it was many years ago, perhaps even in Victorian times due to the dress of people, women with long full skirts and men wearing suits that seemed tight right up to the high-collared shirts.
As I was taking in this very peaceful scene, I began to notice some of the masts of the sailboats began to gently tip to one side, and then, closer to where I stood on the boardwalk, just below the seawall, I realized I could see some barnacle-encrusted boulders and an olive green-gray color bottom that had not been visible before. And as I noticed them, I could see the water’s edge retreating, showing starfish on the rocks and bottom, and looked up to see some of the sailboats beginning to tip crazily onto their beam ends.
I was filled with an ominous foreboding, and as I raised my eyes further, I saw a dark line appearing on the horizon, getting larger with each passing second, and I knew it was a tsunami. I screamed “Run! It’s a tidal wave!” and began to run for my life away from the seawall, not bothering to look back, just running. There was a small hill with a paved trail running up it, and I began to run up that hill, and then looked back to see people still standing there dumbly looking at it, even though there were people all around me running.
I turned and ran harder, then sensing the wave was sweeping towards me, I leaped onto a tall, cast iron light pole, the kind that are large on the bottom and taper gently up to perhaps a foot in diameter, the kind a gas light might have been in. I began to shimmy up it, and saw the water appear beneath me sweeping away people, and I woke up.
It was indeed terrifying. I have often wondered where that vision came from, as I had never given tsunamis any real thought that I remembered, especially that business of the retreating water, and most certainly not in that detail. I had lived in Japan for several years as a military dependent, but never recall much (if any) talk about tsunamis, which I always referred to as “tidal waves”.
Another instance of God reminding everyone who’s the Boss.
Anticipating the objection that “He shouldn’t kill people while doing it”: He’s already settled that. He’s going to kill everyone anyway, as and when He determines, while permitting their spirits to survive.
It is horrific to see many dozens of people moments before their horrifying death by natural disaster.
