AP Photo/Niranjan Shrestha A massive disaster struck the Nepal-Tibet border Wednesday morning.
Hundreds of tourists and locals are missing as a massive flash flood swept through villages along the border.
The flash flood which has devastated settlements in northern Nepal was caused by an earthquake triggering a large landslide which blocked the Bhote Koshi river, according to Nepal’s foreign minister Shishir Khanal.
“An earthquake occurred at 8:37 a.m. today, and due to it, a large landslide occurred, blocking the river, which appears to have caused the flood,” Khanal said during a meeting at the House of Representatives.
The video footage is scary.

The Bhote Koshi river is east of Katmandu. The devastaing landslides being reported happpened in Gyirong County where the Kerung river and another river merges which is Northwest of Katmandu.
So this may be another incident. There are several rivers in this region.
At least, the people of Nepal are enjoying the warm embrace of of collectivism.
The government will take care about everything!

Those first two short videos are terrifying.
On the second one you could see someone fall, and people just ran over the top of that person. Easy to see why, and in the end it didn’t make any difference.

You can’t outrun a flashflood. Especially one as biblical as that one.
You have to scramble uphill at the first hint of trouble.
Those poor people!! Heartbreaking to watch that!
No chance any of the people in those videos survived that.

Flash Floods in mountains with narrow valleys are extremely dangerous and quick.............
I'm guessing that translates to something like: Holy Sh!t!!
And that right there is why China would be stupid to go to war with us. The Three gorges dam would be a valid target. Millions dead.
Impression to me is that the river in the videos reduced in size and flow rate, enough to expose some riverbeds. That alone should have caused alarm in situational awareness.
Even going straight up that hill you wouldn’t have had time to escape.
