I have personally seen the last two (psychosis and becoming a lazy bum) with tragic results.
Should we ban booze, some people say so?
Should we get even more ridiculous about prescription drugs?
Your logic is that somewhere someone gets impacted negatively. Ban it! What about cars? Bicycles? Electric scooters? Skiing? ATVs? And of course the holy grail, guns?
Water kills people, really! https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna16614865
Instead of looking for a (((rationalization))) and using fake science to try to argue for something we want because we “feel” a certain way out of a cultural bias, we put the emphasis on those things where it statistically is relevant, where it's not by people's informed choice (what they want), and we actually can exercise some degree of control?
It's just a sound good argument.
Most heroin, crack, fentanyl addicts also used booze, or smoked a cigarette before they tried harder and for real, dangerous drugs.
In fact, most of these folks have gone to rock or hip hop concerts, danced, or even ate a cheeseburger!

Yes, it really is true, if you go back in time, people argued that dancing and rock and roll caused the corruption of young people, and they applied the same exact reasoning.
Key:
Correlation does not equal causality.
Where else do you see such trash arguments?
Climate change. We have burned hundreds of billions over many years on what is faux science, in reality an ideology and belief system from the political left. In part mandating that people pray to their false god and live their lives according to their value system, all in the name of public safety. Today, these open border types also are pushing for “climate refugees.” I'd imagine you can see the problem with that one.
