MANDAN, N.D. (WKRC) - A mother allegedly murdered two of her young children by slitting their throats and attempted to kill another after telling their father, "Say goodbye to your kids."
According to an affidavit obtained by Valley News Live, officers responded to a residence on the afternoon of August 6 regarding a report of a mother who had stabbed her children. First responders arrived to find the mother, 22-year-old Kailey Erhart, holding a knife to her own throat in the home, per the affidavit.
Erhart, who was covered in blood, reportedly dropped the knife and told officers to kill her. After detaining the woman, officers found three young children who were lying unresponsive on the floor in a nearby bedroom. The children were all suffering from wounds to their necks, authorities said. A 5-month-old and a 3-year-old succumbed to their injuries and died, but a 1-year-old survived the ordeal following extensive surgery.
Investigators learned that prior to the murder, Erhart chased the father of the children and grandmother from the home with a knife, the affidavit said. The father told authorities that he managed to take a gun from Erhart, disassemble it, and dispose of the pieces before she locked him out of the house. The man reportedly showed police a video he took on his phone of Erhart carrying one of the children with the pistol on her hip.
"Say goodbye to your kids," Erhart allegedly said in the video.
Police said the couple was in the process of separating when the incident occurred and the father made a prior report about Erhart threatening to hurt herself and her kids. Erhart was placed in a mental health facility within the 12 to 18 months prior to the incident, but was cleared to be with the children following her discharge.
During questioning, Erhart told police that she put the children to bed and believed that their throats were slit before then. She claimed that she did not remember what happened, but she remembered having the knife in her hands when police arrived.
Erhart was charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder, two counts of terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, three counts of aggravated assault, and misdemeanor domestic violence.

That’s just horrible.
When things like this happen these days, I wonder is the perp on SSRIs or some other prescription psych meds.
Brought to you by Pfizer..?
Stay single, guys. It’s not worth the risk. They are either crazy or evil.
Another one? AWFLs on tick-tock are supporting another one of these evil witches.
Looks like the Lindsey Clancey mental disease is spreading.
“reportedly dropped the knife and told officers to kill her.”
She had no intention of wanting to die when she dropped the knife, just a crazy plea.
Husband fled the house and left his kids? Chicken-shit!
Why? He could have used it to stop her and save his children.
Waiting for the hordes of young women dressed in pink to cheer for the murderer and to blame the husband and post partum depression or some other excrement.
What good are SSRIs if taking them causes you to do the things that not taking them will supposedly cause you to do?
Another heroine for the left.
All the popular chicks are doing it.
I'm not a big guy, but I've never met a woman I am afraid of. Of course, there are some female MMA types and WNBA she-males out there, who no doubt could kick my butt, but still....
What kind of man (and especially father) is this????
How long before calls for legalization?
3 kids at 22....smh.
Another hero for the Left.
