Sophie Cunningham appeared to be the only player who put her hand over her heart during the national anthem prior to the Indiana Fever's game against the New York Liberty on Saturday.
All other players on the Fever stood with their hands behind their backs, as multiple videos and images surfaced on social media, while the Liberty players remained in the locker room during the Star-Spangled Banner.
It is unclear why the Liberty players did not come out to the floor to honor the anthem, nor why Cunningham was the only player to put her hand over her heart. The WNBA headlines have been in recent weeks, as activists have demonstrated outside of games. It comes as an ex-NBA player attempting to join the WNBA outlined his plans to crash Cunningham's game.
Last month, Cunningham revealed her stance that only women-born athletes should play in the WNBA.
She said: "I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, 'I never once said that.' I think that I am here to extend love.

Indiana is the only team in that whole league that even stays on the floor for the anthem.

There was no "appeared" about it. The only surprise is that they didn't write "Sophie Cunningham ALLEGEDLY APPEARED to be the only player who put her hand over her heart during the national anthem..."

MBS appears to be rational unlike his Muslim neighbors (especially Qatar).
It's my understanding that the ex-NBA players are really "crashing" the WNBA's plans to be pro trans and they're not really "crashing Cunningham's game".
Assuming this article is accurate, it means that Caitlin Clark also stood with her hands behind her back. It does greatly diminish my admiration for her.

Even with Sophie, I’d never watch a WNBA game. Especially knowing an average boys high school team would wipe the floor with any WNBA team.

The reason is - the males at the NFL games years ago did not honor their own pledge of allegiance and sat with their wimpiness and allowed this disrespect of our country to prosper
