Move over, Usain Bolt: Humanoid robots smash human records at Beijing games

BEIJING — Chinese humanoid robots broke records set by humans, including beating Usain Bolt’s 100-meter sprint world record, on the opening day of the Olympics-like World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Saturday.

More than 2,000 humanoid robots were participating in the event, the organizer said.

The five-day games, now in its second year, are a spectacle demonstrating China’s rapid progress in advanced robotics as the technology race with the U.S. heats up, with 51 events and more than 1,000 competitions taking place including running, table tennis and soccer.

The games, which are taking place in the National Speed Skating Oval built for the 2022 Winter Olympics, opened the same week as Beijing held the 2026 World Robot Conference, where companies showcased around 3,000 products, including humanoid robots.

China makes the majority of the world’s humanoid robots. The U.S. has stepped up scrutiny of robots from the country.

Last month, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission announced a ban on imports of new foreign-made humanoid robots. The FCC cited national security reasons in a move that targeted China. The Pentagon recently also added Unitree, one of China’s leading humanoid robot makers, to its list of companies that it deemed have ties with the Chinese military. Beijing has hit back at the accusations.

OK

I am making a rocket, with two dangling arms and two dangling legs.

I shoot it from the starting line to the finish.

New 100-meter record, 2.05 seconds!

Down with technology.

Down with Communist China.

I was blessed at age 80 with a life before their takeover and enslavement of American humans. Sad that young people here will not have that blessing.

In the 1980s when hundreds of thousands of American auto industry workers were losing their jobs and endangering their families’ futures (both by foreign cars and by robotics and computerized factory functions) the grim saying was “If they lay all of us people off to have cars made by robots they’ll have to get the robots to buy the cars. We’ll all be broke.”

That included the restaurants and coffee shops across from auto plants, the places that sold expensive appliances and carpets to buyers of houses, the after school music and dance classes for their children, the vacation places and much more. Michigan lost 287,300 direct auto jobs but many more of places that used to serve them indirectly.

Now, oddly, the self driving cars and trucks are in a sense, robots driving the cars. As the grim joke said.

The reason China is putting out their 'concern' for American communities having Data Centers is they want to win this part of the war: the war to control the connections, AI and robots.

If Hitler had been smarter - and our press during World War II as stupid as they are today - Hitler could have hinted 'chemicals in munitions factories were dangerous for American women. Like Data Centers are too noisy crap of today... AND if we had been as gullible then as we are now we'd all be speaking German today and living in some Nazi German hellhole.

As a specie, humans are rather slow. Beating Usain Bolt can be accomplished by almost any large four legged mammal.

What would the world be like if Germany won WW II? That’s a good question. I believe it would be much like it is now.
Fascism doesn’t last long after the death of its leader—so when Hitler passed away in the late 1940s. It could well have reverted to some form of Republic after Himmler’s death.
England would have slowly given up her Empire with Iran and India first. Germany would have gotten back her empire. The center of tech advances would have been Germany and they would have landed men on the Moon in the 1960s. They never would have invaded the USA—a new Republican Government would have signed a treaty-—With Joe Kennedy as President.
Mosley would have become the fascist leader of England with a pro-Germany King replacing the king. Churchill would have fled to America. There never would have been a Queen Elizabeth or a United Nations. Islamic people never would have invaded Europe.

Chinese robots are mainly remote controlled toys.

It’s hype.

I’ll really start to worry when they start expecting us to call robots by a pronoun other than ‘it.’

A world with the major superpower being Germany based on the superiority of the Aryan race, and an distinct antipathy for Jews, would be enormously different from the world we have today.

Perhaps a rump Soviet union would exist in Asiatic Russia. Maybe China would be a republic. With a greatly weakened USA, everything would be very different.

These robots are so good and so autonomous that they had to be moved into their places on hand carts by human servants.

But ultimately this will be used for military purposes, and they have a huge jump on us there.
