The Fever came away with the win, but the on-field action has not really been the main topic of discussion in the days since. Instead, a lot of it has centred around Sophie Cunningham being the only player to put her hand on her heart as the national anthem was playing.
In the clip which has been shared by multiple accounts on X/Twitter, Cunningham is standing slightly away from the rest of her teammates, none of whom have their hands raised.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream squad are not believed to have taken to the court while the anthem was ongoing.

Great. I was just getting ready to log in to Amazon anyhow.
Clark has avoided getting involved with politics. She did support Cunningham in the 3 point contest. Cunn8ngham is the 2nd best 3 point shooter in the WNBA. She was not invited. Clark refused her invitation because of the snub.
Many coaches do not allow their team on the court for the national anthem. This is common in many sports. The organizations do not want the players to disrespect the anthem and flag, so they don’t give them the opportunity to make fools of themselves.
Idk if anyone considered Ms. Clark a “sweetheart”. She came in being a very good girl player and has gotten pummeled for being good and white. That earned her some sympathy from friendly quarters.
I don’t watch the NBA either.
Player Points Rebounds Assists
Caitlin Clark 24 3 7
Kelsey Mitchell 29 3 2
Sophie Cunningham 13 2 2.
They’re both slackers, I don’t know why I watch that stuff.
We love dirty laundry.
Clark refused to invite Cunningham? Who snubbed who? Not following your explanation.
This must have become a recent thing as I don’t remember teams not celebrating the national anthem before sporting events when I was a kid. Didn’t matter the sport, football, baseball, basketball, soccer etc. This new trend you speak of must have started with Colin Kaepernick taking a knee for the national anthem.
Most of these people are ill-educated and are racial grievance-mongers.
Unfortunately, they think that they’re entitled to whatever advantage they may enjoy.
They’ve never lived abroad, so they don’t realize what a privilege it is to be a citizen of the USA!
For all its faults, this country still offers the hope of liberty and many men have died to preserve that hope.
That’s why you salute the flag, not some government or party or person!
That’s why you salute the flag, which represents that hope
Backlash use to be a thing.
The WNBA doesn’t care. They will still have their fan base.
The contest was supposed to have the best 3 point shooters in the league. Cunningham is ranked 2nd. The WNBA did not invite her. Presumedly because of her political stances. Some of her teammates spoke out on X and Clark chose not to attend.
Rubio - Cunningham 2028!! :)
“ Now Sophie is the one getting positive attention, and Caitlin is on the back burner.”
Now Caitlyn doesn’t have the attention so they will leave her alone. In the NBA, no one took cheap shots at Jordan.
Did she complete a thesis on Milton Friedman?
Then later she shows up at this bar and gets in a sing along to “thanks to the red, white and blue”. Saw the video. It was great!! She’s the best!
So Caitlyn Clark didn’t attend the contest or she snubbed Sophie Cunningham? Your original comment still isn’t clear. I get that the WNBA snubbed her but you made it sound like Caitlyn snubbed Sophie. I guess by not speaking out Caitlyn in effect snubbed her by not directly.
Oh wow thx for that. She seems like a fun young lady to be around. Quite unlike the always angry shrews of the left.
He never spoke out for normal. I hope she has decent security. You know some violent mentally ill tranny is building great resentment and envy. Say a prayer for the lass.
