CNN panel devolves into chaos as Dems accuse GOP of ‘anti-Muslim’ attack on El-Sayed by using his full name (Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed)

A CNN panel exploded in a heated clash Monday night after Dems accused Republicans of launching an “anti-Muslim” attack on Michigan Senate hopeful Dr. Abdul El-Sayed by running an ad campaign using his full name.

During “CNN NewsNight” with guest host Jon Berman, the panel discussed Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) defense of an ad campaign that blasts El-Sayed as a dangerous candidate and uses the controversial lefty pol’s full name, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.

In an interview clip, the senator was asked whether the ads are an attempt to tell voters “hint, hint…he’s Muslim.” Scott responded, “Not at all … I can get called Timothy Eugene. I get called that all the time.”

After replaying the clip on CNN, Berman jibed, “I have never heard Tim Scott referred to as Timothy Eugene in a campaign ad.”

Niall Stanage, an Irish journalist and associate editor at The Hill, jumped in with a furious take on the GOP ad campaign.

“I don’t know how [Scott] says that with a straight face, honestly,” Stanage said. “The idea that using Tim Scott’s full name, unabbreviated, is equivalent to using Abdul El-Sayed’s full name is just ludicrous. It is obviously in El-Sayed’s case an appeal to anti-Muslim, anti-Arab sentiment.”

Jason Rantz, a conservative radio host, sarcastically sniped: “People didn’t know he was Muslim until they said his full name.”

Stanage plowed on, jumping off a comment from fellow panelist Yemisi Egbewole, a Dem strategist who brought up the fact that El-Sayed – a far-left candidate who has called for “Medicare for all” and ending ICE – will have to work to win over moderate voters.

“...ads are an attempt to tell voters “hint, hint…he’s Muslim.””. For goodness sake, his “short” name is Abdul El-Sayed! Abdul=muslim, El-Sayed=muslim!!!

There’s precedent. Using Obama’s middle name was considered ‘anti-muslim’.

Funny how no one got upset when newspapers used Hideki Tojo’s full name.

But I guess back then, Americans knew who their enemies were.

Didn't Larry Kramer stand in front of news cameras and say "Let's say it: Janet Reno is a lesbian."

They have no problem with identifying white men by their full names.

AI answer to my question did (sainted) Ted Kennedy use Mitt Romney’s Mormon religion against him in their Senate race?

“Yes, Ted Kennedy and his campaign used Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith against him during the 1994 U.S. Senate race. They launched attacks that aimed to exploit the public’s unfamiliarity and biases regarding Mormonism, which was seen as a significant factor in the election.”

Especially rich in light of JFK’s speech , AI again:

John F. Kennedy’s speech to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association on September 12, 1960, addressed concerns about his Catholic faith and emphasized the importance of the separation of church and state. He argued that religious beliefs should not interfere with public policy and highlighted the dangers of religious intolerance

Do I think that there is a political angle/dog whistle type of thing to calling this guy by his full name? Of course.

Politics is the second oldest profession and about as dirty as the first one.

At the same time, CNN, let’s not be coy. The media and the left loved to call Dubya’s father George Herbert Walker Bush because it made him out to be a pompous and flatulent elitist , who was out of touch with the average American.

Sayed is as evil as they come and its just so darn cute for CNN to defend him, just like they defended all Muslims after 9/11, but just wait til all those youtube videos that he deleted are released, 100 videos of himself he deleted, gee, if he’s such a great guy, why delete them, and as they say, the internet is forever..and I want to see him get the black vote after stating that he thinks football should be abolished, 90 percent of the NFL is black, so this should be fun

Yemisi Egbewole, a Dem strategist, would near certainly be one of the first to be killed by the radical Islamics he supports. As soon as they get power.

So he is either Muslim or he’s not.

If he is that’s part of his make-up.

The public has the right to know.

I’m absolutely sure if his opposition was an Evangelical Christian, the CNN propagandists would have no problem shouting THAT from the rooftops. With direct and indirect overtones of “He’s a dangerous wack job.”

Remember well in 2008 when the media told us we were not to use Barak Obama’s middle name. And the media never did use it. I guess seven years after 9/11, they didn’t want us to think about electing a guy named Hussein. As they say, you can’t hate the media enough.

The non-use of Obama’s middle name was more than a media affectation, it was a straight-up rule in the McCain campaign.

My recollection was that it was more because “Hussein” put people in mind of Saddam Hussein.

El-Sayed literally said that his opponents called him Abdul as some sort of dog whistle, and added, call me by my full name, Abdulrahman.
