The video “2026 Great Barrier Reef Statistics: They told us a fairy tale” (by Reef Rebels / Dr. Peter Ridd) argues that official data show the Great Barrier Reef is not in crisis, contrary to long-running media and institutional claims. Key points from the video:
• Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) monitoring data show six consecutive years of exceptionally high (or record/record-equaling) coral cover—higher than or matching levels seen over the previous ~35 years of systematic surveys.
• Ridd frames the repeated “reef is dying / doomed” narrative as a “fairy tale.” He walks through the reef’s natural history: it has repeatedly died and regrown over geological time as sea levels rose and fell; individual reefs routinely experience large swings in coral cover due to natural drivers (especially cyclones and crown-of-thorns starfish outbreaks).
• He notes historical alarms (crown-of-thorns in the 1960s–70s, then pollution/dredging, then climate change from the late 1990s onward) that repeatedly predicted near-term collapse, yet the system has recovered strongly since the low point around 2012.
• The core critique is institutional: a large ecosystem of scientists, managers, and funders is incentivized to emphasize bad news and downplay or reframe good news (e.g., claiming the abundant coral is the “wrong type”—fast-growing plate and staghorn corals). Ridd attributes this to groupthink rather than individual malice and calls for better quality assurance and openness to dissenting data.
• Conclusion: the reef is highly variable but fundamentally resilient and currently in strong condition; the persistent crisis story does not match the long-term monitoring record.
The video includes timestamps covering the data, historical context, recovery trends, bleaching claims, and the “wrong type of coral” counter-argument, with links to AIMS reports and related material. It is presented from Ridd’s perspective as a long-time reef researcher critical of mainstream reef science messaging.

At this point it is a safe assumption all climate change studies proclaiming doom and gloom or natural calamities are all false.
Every Single One!
And in 1950 there were 10,000 polar bears in Canada and today there re only 13,000.
See my tagline.
Al Gore. Please pick up the whiter courtesy phone. Thanks
Butt, butt, butt......Rachael Carlson and stuff.
It’s like the video documentaries:
“Look at all these millions upon millions of fish on this huge coral reef! They’re both almost extinct!”
When I dove there in ‘94, I knew this was all a lie.
Totally pristine reefs.
On the other hand, Bali reefs had been totally destroyed by dynamite fisherman as of 2001.
Nothing to see but blasted reefs and zero fish.
Life, uh, finds a way.
Before the Great Barrier Reef it was “The Black Forest is dying” in the 1980s
After several years of it stubbornly not dying, they had to stop peddling that particular lie.
How long before they have to stop lying about “the sea level is rising!”?......never mind that the rich Gaia Worshipers have oceanfront mansions.......
Ah yes! I forgot about "polar bears are going extinct!"...except their population has been growing.
I’ve always said the world balances itself. It picks the time to “kill off” aged reef material. It’s like seeds in your garden...you can use seeds from a yearly crop....and they’ll work for years..but produces less and less over time.
Yes, but the researchers running the show had some really good times at meetings, being on television, getting lots of grant money, etc. Doesn’t that count for something....
I knew this was a lie in the 90’s when this doomsday crap global warming religion started.
In the 70’s, it was acid rain and new ice age.
Oh yes. I was a little kid then but I remember. Before that in the 60s it was the population bomb/depletion of resources. Remember the Simon-Ehrlich bet? Remember "peak oil"?
Their doom porn always fails.
Some years ago, there was a discovery that coral forming organisms are attracted to a slight electrical current, and will colonize it much faster than normal rock. So off the coast of Africa, on a naked underwater beach, a cable grid was created, with a power source of an onshore ordinary car battery, that was periodically swapped with a charged one.
It worked and showed prospects of creating a new coral reef. However, I haven’t heard of any advancements in the tech since.
OK, but they DID tell us the truth about 'Peak Oil' (the world ran out of oil twenty years ago) and that half of Manhattan would be under water by 2010 and that a third of Florida would be underwater by 2020. And the Population Bomb? Most of us would be starving to death... Oh wait? The liberal elite 'scientists' were wrong and so were the idiots in the press who carried water for them all these years...
Ecological and climate activists like the little doom troll “greta” lying their collective a(&’s off is the norm not the exception ....
