My moment of awakening, to the fact that the government lies to us and covers stuff up happened in the Flight 800 crash over Long Island Sound.
It was July 17, 1996, and I took a Mental Health day from work. I was tuned to MSNBC. Back in those days, MSNBC had not yet become an asylum for the politically insane, and actually had decent coverage about Clinton's many foibles, to eventually cover his scandals and subsequent impeachment.
Suddenly, Norah O'Donnell, who was working there at the time (and actually was a pretty decent journalist back then) cut into the programming with an announcement that Flight 800 had crashed, with no survivors. I moved right in front of the TV to watch.
Within 2 minutes, a video was posted that showed that the crash COULD NOT have been caused by a missile.
Wait, what???!?
No one had even mentioned the word 'missile'.... and the video was watermarked "CIA Video".
CRAZY.
Why would the CIA be producing this video within minutes of the crash? Why would it be distributing it so quickly? Why would it mention a missile, when NOBODY ELSE WAS?
These things set off my Whoa-This-Is-Weird-Radar.
Later, it was demonstrated that 670+ people saw a flame streaking up to meet the plane. You know, like a missile. One of those people was a National Guardsman, aloft in a plane, who just so happened to be a Missile-Plume expert.All of these witnesses were roundly scoffed by the government, and the official lie stood: It was a spontaneous center-fuel-tank explosion, and what everyone saw was the cabin section flying upwards.M
Despite the fact people were describing the plume flying up from the horizon-line, you know, the ground.
Yah right. Gotchya.
The motivation was obvious: If people thought a commercial airliner was struck by either a terrorist missile, or a friendly missile that went astray, airline traffic would collapse...and in 1997, Clinton did not need that distraction, not with his legal problems.
It was the first moment in my life that I realized that the government would lie to us, boldly and without shame, even when a half-a-thousand eyewitnesses contradicted them.
It was the first moment my vision became clear to just how venal and conniving the government could be.

I recall that the ANG pilot described the explosion as looking like “ordinance”.
Further, and I can no longer find any reference to this, but the officer in question was reportedly an expert in identifying missile plumes.
It was an obvious cover-up. I don’t recall the video coming out immediately, however.

The day of the event, I didn't see a whole video. I only saw brief clips. Maybe the clips were assembled into a full-on video later?
Yup. And as regards Covid, many of the points first dismissed as 'conspiracy theories' turned out to be 100% accurate (and confirmed by agencies and governments).
It's gotten to the point that both nully and I now refer to 'conspiracy theories' as 'spoiler alerts'.

Iran Air 655 on 3 July 1988 by USS Vincennes;
An interesting aside...most don’t know the reason the Airbus was shot down was because the Vincennes was tracking two Tomcats that had taken off from a field in Iran and were using the Airbus as cover, flying close in , behind and underneath the airliner, presumably to surprise attack the Vincennes. When the Vincennes fired the missiles, the Tomcats broke off and the missiles continued into the larger target. That’s why the Captain of the Vincennes wasn’t punished.

Iran was not targeting Flight 800. Any flight would work for them.
The official (NTSB) probable cause of the crash of TWA Flight 800 was an explosion of the center wing fuel tank caused by ignition of the flammable fuel/air mixture in the tank.
It is impossible to create an explosion with any jet fuel/air mixture and any heat source you choose. The most you can get is a deflagration.
The resulting evidence of deflagrations and explosions are different. The evidence from Flight 800 pointed to an explosion.
NTSB is wrong as they came up with the cause of the explosion which is impossible.
Yep - saw an interview with a man who was a document examiner and was on the beach with his dog at the time of the Flight 800 crash - he said he saw the streak in the sky going up to the plane - and then the explosion.
What’s really telling is that NO other Boeing 747 has ever crashed - before or since - due to the same conditions - “faulty wiring” that caused an “explosion of flammable fuel vapors” - AND TWA did not ground its 747 fleet to check all the other 747s for “faulty wiring” as is common after such an air disaster.
The government and airline industry knew exactly from the beginning what had happened and have been covering it up ever since.
Aerodynamics support the zoom/climb.
I agree with the Admiral, former Top Gun pilot, who said a zoom climb several thousand feet, with the front of the airplane gone is laughable. Too much drag.
The FBI only takes over aircraft crash investigations from the NTSB when it is clear that the incident was caused by a deliberate act.
Here is a story from today on TWA 800:

That doesn’t prove they saw a missile rising out of the ocean. What they saw was just smoke extending from point a to point b. What caused that smoke isn’t clear. It could have been caused by something travelling upward or by something travelling downward.
Most, if not all, claimed to first hear the explosion before they saw the smoke trail. By the time the sound travelled to shore, the smoke trail was already in place so they couldn’t have seen a missile flying upward.
I would not assume an internal explosion from the photograph (Post 21).
The mid section will break up on impact with the water because of where it connects to the wings. That's in comparison to the cylindrical fuselage penetrating the water like an arrow or crossbow bolt.
Piles of eyeball witnesses saw the plane shot down.
My impression is that it was shot down. They say that the radar demonstrates MULTIPLE transits going up to flight 800. That doesn’t sound like an accidental launch, and it would be hard to hide a military launch of that order. I have suspected it was a terrorist attack, and that Clinton didn’t want the bad press that would come with his refusal to eliminate Bin Laden when he had the chance.
The CIA video was released in November, 1997.
