@RandPaul
If Anthony Fauci lies before Congress on Wednesday, as he did in previous hearings, his preemptive pardon won’t cover him.

When was the last time anyone faced any real consequences for lying to Congress?

So, the “fizzif” for Tony.

But if he lies about it he can be charged for perjury.
Which means what he says CAN incriminate him. I think he can and will still plead the 5th.
To: RandFan
He’ll be admonished. Ooh the horror. I, could be just me, don’t think anyone will ever be punished for this travesty. So, dr. Fauxchi-———🖕

I don’t think he can plead the 5th. There was a lot of discussion about it when President Otto Penn did all the pardons.

I hope Rand Paul gets more than five minutes to interrogate Fauci. Maybe there's a Senate rule whereby some R senators can yield their time to Sen. Paul.
Fauci was really stupid to write his diary on government computers. He was probably arrogantly confident that after the 2020 steal, the Dems would remain in power beyond his lifetime.
I imagine Fauci shit in his pants the night Trump won another term.

Which means what he says CAN incriminate him. I think he can and will still plead the 5th. I don't think he can for the time period of the pardon. I think he will use "I don't recall". He can definitely take the fifth after the pardon for questions such as:
Dr. Fauci have you contacted former employees to destroy documents or lie to .gov investigators?

That is not how it works, the 5th is not about refusing to testify to avoid committing a crime, it is about not testifying to crimes you may be under investigation for.
This is the same as forcing a person to testify under oath once given immunity, one cannot refuse to answer by pleading the 5th.
This very issue was decided a long time ago under Brown v. Walker https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/161/591/
