Were you part of the cabal that broke 200+ years of US military precedent by allowing mentally ill people in the military? Then why are you bound by someone else’s contempt for our nation and rules?
I see your point, and agree with it. But the APA struck it as a category of mental illness in the DSM V. So there isn’t a basis today in which to judge it as mental illness.
The government made a contract with them. We should honor it. If anything, it is the American people that failed them by allowing the conversation to be lost, and electing morons that opened the door for lunacy.
They shouldn’t be in the military.

But they were allowed.
Now those that served honorably deserve to get what they were promised.
Either let them serve out their time to 20 (not recommended - there will be a lot of theatrics - negative impact), or early retirement at 15. They other alternative is to give them a lump sum settlement. In either case, I suspect this will get pushed through the courts anyway (no matter what you do) and they will get something in the end, probably more than what is deserved.
But changing the rules on someone, and then giving them the boot, if they served honorably, is a very dishonorable act.
