There are no famous people in my ancestry.

Me, either. But I did find a young tart who ran away with a married man about 130 years ago. He left behind a young son and wife. They moved to Winnipeg from Iowa to avoid the law and got married there. He opened a livery stable and died from Glanders, a horse disease that can be picked up by humans. He was the first of two husbands she “lost.”

People have different reactions. When we first moved to Rockford, IL, we met a nice, large family at the coffee and donuts after Mass. I mentioned to my wife that the name of one of the sons was Wyatt. She responded immediately, "That can't be. Their last name is Earp." Well, it turns out they are direct descendants. The Canadian in my wife would not allow her to even consider imposing that on her son. I thought it was pretty cool. They have since moved to Idaho.

Does that mean you haven’t put your DNA into one of the famous search groups? They send out constant lists of how your mother’s brother’s grandfather’s aunt’s husband’s cousin was someone stunningly famous.

Infamous is more fun.
One sold liquor to (feather) Indians.
Another rode his horse into a tavern.
