Timothy Olyphant revealed he had to resurrect an old computer in an attempt to log on to the "SmartLess" podcast. Ultimately, he wound up using a friend's office to make the interview happen.

"I needed a computer," Olyphant, 58, told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. "I guess you can't do your show if you don't own a computer." As the hosts pressed him, Olyphant doubled down on his surprisingly low-tech lifestyle. "We went… I had a… we went and got out an old desktop computer that we still have in the house and plugged it in and started it up, and they were all USB things."

Boyd was initially supposed to die off in the first episode, but the preview audience liked Walter Goggins so much that they made him a permanent fixture.

"Boyd" had style and charisma. The bad guy on the sequel to Justified had none of that. I made it through half of episode 2 before I quit watching.

Sounds like you don’t own a TV.

I don't. Shut my TV off in 2008 and never looked back. I watch what I want when I want on my PC.

Alien Earth. Wouldn’t be as good without him.

the sequel to Justified

I made it through episode 1 before I quit watching. I'm not surprised. I thought the novel City Primeval was one of his weakest.

Ain’t no one faster on the draw than Federal Marshal Raylan Givens! I might put him up with Clint Eastwood!

I have been a fan of his for over 20 years.

First noticed him as Sheriff Bullock in Deadwood on HBO. I consider that to be one of the top shows ever made (akin to Sopranos, The Wire, etc). Lots of swearing in it though, so not for kids or those with sensitive ears. The curse words were a way of updating the way people spoke in the wild west of the 1880s. They didn’t say the same obscenities but the uncivilized did blaspheme a lot in those days, which was considered then as cursing a lot is today, so they adapted it by changing the blasphemy to cursing.

Then of course on Justified. Another very solid and enjoyable V show.

He played the bad guy in Die Hard 4 I think, his role was solid but the movie was odd with crazy stunts like Bruce Willis doing something like jumping out of a fighter jet and landing on a collapsing bridge and sliding onto the trailer of an 18-wheeler. Ridiculous stunts but not his fault.

He played in the original Hitman. He played some kind of “brainwashed as a child” Russian mafia type assassin with a bar code tattoo on his head. Was OK as a film. Somehow they did a sequel but he didn’t act in that one.

He played in an odd show called Santa Clarita Diet. They got bitten by a spider and became friendly suburban cannibals or something like that. Comedy show but odd. Can’t remember which streaming service it was on maybe Netflix or something.

A few other things, but Justified and Deadwood are standout shows.

I guess now I’ll go read the article and see if I have anything relevant to say about it :-)

Sheriff Bullock was almost as fast a draw as Wild Bill Hickock, according to Deadwood.

A lot of the supporting cast of Deadwood got cameo roles in the first season of Justified. Was good to see them reunite and know they are on good terms. Probably why I took to Justified, being such a fan of Deadwood.

Oh yeah, forgot about his part in Mandalorian. He seems to get a little bit typed into roles where he plays the town’s lawman. Not always but he’s played that role in at least 3 major projects.

He gave a funny interview once about how acting was “easy”. He said “they tell you what to wear, then tell you what to say. How hard can it be?” Got a lot of laughs.

Seems like a genuinely nice guy overall, at least from the persona he puts out there. Also claimed he doesn’t have a lot of actor friends. He works with them but doesn’t hang out with them much.

I’ve always liked his work. Married to the same woman for 35 years; the kids. Doesn’t seem like a typical Hollywood lunatic. Also a Mayflower descendant

If you take out Eva's prison scenes, yeah.

They definitely produced the best pilot ever.

The remake was woke to the bone.

Olyphant's portrayal of Sheriff Seth Bullock in 'Deadwood' was a tune-up for Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens in 'Justified.' His portrayal of each was very similar, the biggest difference being that Givens shot more (and better), despite more often finding means of venting his sexual frustrations. Both were prone to picking fistfights they knew going in they were destined to lose.

I've not seen this reported on anywhere on the web but in the next-to-last episode of 'Justified,' Marshall Givens has an old-west-style duel with Boone, a hired gun who carries a Colt Single Action Army and fancies himself the King of Pistoleros. Givens is both quick on the draw and a crack shot, a former marksmanship instructor at Quantico.

Olyphant's character obviously won the duel (else there wouldn't have been another episode) but he didn't win the draw. What I've not seen remarked to ANYWHERE is that Boone fired first. I had to watch the video frame-by-frame to be sure but there's a flash from the muzzle of Boone's Colt one frame before the same from Given's Glock. Interesting to note that Givens blanks used smokeless powder but Boone's were black powder, hence a billow of grey smoke accompanying the shot.

But Boone's shot only grazed the Marshall's scalp, whereas the Marshall's bullet found Boone's boiler room.

Another bit not often noted is that both men were felled by the shots, but only the Marshall got up. In a moment of 'Cool' worthy of Steve McQueen, when Givens sat up, the first thing he did was look for his hat.

He didn't check to see if his shot has found its mark. He obviously was certain it had. But he had to see if his hat was alright.

If you haven't seen it, HBO's 'Deadwood' series is a treasure. However, it is profanity-laced, and writer David Milch had a number of reasons for making it so. Nonetheless, the show's dialogue is exquisite. It's set in the Victorian era and the dialogue in Deadwood has been called "near-Shakespearean." The first three episodes present the most humanizing portrayal of Wild Bill Hickok ever put on film.
