FDA Announces Testing That Linked Taylor Farms From Mexico to Nationwide Cyclospora Outbreak Was a FALSE POSITIVE — Source of Explosive Diarrhea Parasite STILL UNKNOWN

The Food and Drug Administration just walked back its own finding in the massive Cyclospora outbreak that has left thousands of Americans suffering from relentless, explosive diarrhea.

On Sunday, the FDA announced that laboratory experts re-checked a sample of shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico that had previously tested “positive” for the parasite. The agency now says the result was a false positive. The

The FDA wrote on its website:

“FDA is providing an update regarding the sample of lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico which was reported positive on July 18, 2026. Due to the complexity in detection of Cyclospora, FDA laboratory experts re-reviewed the sample results and have concluded that the finding does not represent true amplification and should be considered a false positive.

“Information about the sample has been removed from the July 18, 2026, update. FDA has notified Taylor Farms and continues working with the firm to ensure product implicated in this outbreak has been removed from the market. FDA and state partners continue to collect and analyze product samples. As of July 19, 2026, there are no confirmed positive sample results for product testing for Cyclospora.”

The source of the outbreak remains completely unknown.

This comes after days of chaos in which Taylor Farms recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico that had been shipped to 27 states.

The company had been squarely in the crosshairs after federal investigators traced illnesses to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia.

Apparently the FDA is useless and completely incompetent.

How long you think until Taylor farms files a lawsuit?

Maybe they are trying a little too hard to restore their credibility. If so, massive failure on their part.

I got this thing and it was pretty awful—frequent steady stream diarrhea for almost three weeks. I got extremely dehydrated and had to go to my oncologist to get IV’s of fluids to get me stable. No fun, I can tell you.

Given the level of government scrutiny, regulation, liability, and public attention, growing lettuce and spinach growing face a level risk that seems equivalent to launching a new vaccine or cancer drug.

“The source of the outbreak remains completely unknown.” I’m hoping to lose some weight.

Bruce Taylor of Taylor Farms has been a massive political donor.

I hope soon. As an aside, the DDA and CDC should genetically map this parasite, and should most definitely consider a foreign source.

So now back to square one..will the cause EVER be found, I mean it can take 2 weeks for someone to get this you expect a person to figure out every single thing they ate for a two week time frame, its hard. Heck I forgot what I ate two days ago

Who supplies lettuce to all those Taco Bells? If it was an isolated area, I’d blame it on restaurant workers not washing their hands, but since it’s widespread, then it has to go back to the supplier, and most likely infected field hands defecating in the fields, or infected field hands not washing their hands after defecating, even using toilets. The only other possibility is sewage infected irrigation. Seems like it would be relatively simple to check those possibilities with the suppliers.

Obviously something was wrong in their sampling, testing and confirmation process.
Extreme caution and circumspect needs to be applied before a recall of this magnitude occurs.

Equivalent to launching a new vaccine unless it’s for covid.
A lot of good scientific practices just went down the drain with covid testing. I think there may be a bit of that in this one.

On a positive note, it’s a great opportunity for a colonoscopy.
