For those of us old enough to remember being taught about similes...

New Yorkers deserve answers Governor over why there are still about 2,000 National Guardsmen working in New York State's prisons after you fired Correctional Officers for going out on strike in early 2024, due to unsafe working conditions caused by shortages of staff around the state, and you forcing officers to work 24 hour shifts on a regular basis because of those staff shortages. 24 hour shifts are only allowed when emergency situations arise at a prison. Not hiring enough guards is an emergency you caused yourself.

To try to alleviate this problem, you lowered the hiring age from 21 to 18 despite the job requiring mandatory weapons training as the job has Peace Officer status with 8 weeks of academy training. In NY State, you can't own a gun until you are 21.
