POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said a Lakeland middle school assistant director is accused of striking a deputy on the hand and resisting arrest at a traffic stop.
PCSO said Lasahy DeVeaux, 36, of Lakeland, was stopped by a deputy at about 1:09 p.m. on July 11 going westbound on I-4 near Polk City.
DeVeaux’s license was revoked on Nov. 26, 2024 for five years for being a habitual traffic offender, PCSO said. Her license has been suspended three times since then, in March 2025, June 2025, and August 2025, for failure to pay traffic tickets. Her license had been canceled indefinitely on May 3, 2025, PCSO said.
On the stop on I-4, the deputy asked DeVeaux to exit the vehicle twice, according to PCSO. She did exit the vehicle, but when the deputy attempted to put handcuffs on her, she physically resisted. PCSO said she then struck the deputies in an attempt to free her grasp.
DeVeaux is charged with multiple felonies, including battery on a law enforcement officer and driving while license suspended/revoked.
DeVeaux is the Assistant Head of School at Academy Prep in Lakeland.

If she loses her job over this (as she should), I advise that employer to have at least two large sized cops or security officers nearby. Do not give her the bad news if you’re within 6ft of her. All office materials, i.e. Work related computers, must be tightly secured to their surfaces. No little glass bottles of Anti-Bacterial what-not sitting free on the desk either.
Or shoot her then fire her. /s. Sheeesh!

It’s sad that the Florida Fish and Game officers have to come dart a nutso employee to fire them. The officers need to think bear level. IMO
If she’s employed by a private school with her record the state should be sending in forensic auditors if they are receiving any state funds.

Worse than getting a traffic ticket is the strong possibility that Grady will highlight her in an upcoming youtube for the world to see.
My guess is that mama misspelled "Lashay"; there's an unconnected Lashay DeVeaux who is a diamond jeweler in Nassau, the Bahamas (which would make her a jewellery-er).
An angry fat black woman violating traffic laws, driving while suspended, chimping out and striking a LEO turning a traffic stop in to a felony arrest? Why, I am shocked. I figured after the thousands of bodycam footage showing that exact same thing it would finally catch one of the rare white women that do this.

How could her license be suspended 3 times in a year AFTER having been revoked for 5 years. If that statement is accurate someone in the Polk County court system should be publicly flogged.
Who writes this stuff? A real journalist would be following up on that and reporting on it.

OK, so if her license was revoked for 5 years in November of 2024, why was she not dealt with when she was stopped in March and May and June and August of 2025? How do you “suspend” a revoked license (March 2025)? How do you “suspend” a revoked AND “canceled” license in May and June and August of 2025? Sounds like the court system there is SERIOUSLY lacking!
