I clicked on my bookmark for Free Republic.
The splash page came up.
And then in dawned on me:
Free Republic is 30 years old this year!
Happy 30th birthday to Free Republic.
25 years for me, 19 under my present handle.

Free Republic was once the only way to get real unfiltered news. A lot more options these days, but I’m still here, just not as much.

I’ve been here through most of it. It still arguably packs more information about important, interesting developments into one website than any other place.
There is nothing wrong with 30 year old technology as long as it works. Suggest you spend some time at Reddit or one of it’s spinoffs, then come back to FR. Then you will realize how much better FR really is!
It was right after 9-11-01 when I was an IT helper for a brokerage firm in Nashville when my boss saw how pissed off I was about it. “There’s a website full of America-loving people just like us. You should check it out”.
Since then Free Republic’s been an anchor no matter what life threw at me, the members providing hope and wisdom when needed most. Here’s to those here and those who’ve passed on. May it continue providing patriots a place to exchange views and ideas while opposing enemies foreign and domestic.
